Academic Committee – Induction Task

Instructions:
• Each group must make a PPT (Max 8 slides excluding cover page & thank you slide).

• Answer all the questions, with proper reasoning.

• Please refer to Participant’s Handbook 2020-22.

• Part A is an individual task and Part B is a group task.

Part A

(Each student must attempt two questions in a single slide. Mention the student’s name

and CAT ID/ Registration number at the bottom of the slide. However, each member

should have knowledge of all the questions)

1. As an Academic Committee member, you have been tasked to calculate and verify the

academic results of a 1st year MBA student at IIM Kashipur. Following is the Term

1,2, and 3 result table, including the attendance percentage in every subject. Based on

the information:

a) Calculate the GPA of all the 3 terms separately and the CGPA of 1st year. (Be sure

to consider any grade changes due to attendance shortage)

b) Based on the result of the previous question, determine if the student is eligible to

be promoted to 2nd year.


2. Suppose your friend is ill and has missed many classes. What will be the course of

action for him/her? What if he or she has attended less than 50% of class, under any

such circumstances?

3. What are the conditions specified in the handbook regarding 20% concession in

attendance? What are the consequences if a person is absent for more than 20% of the

classes?

4. What are the penalties for cheating in quizzes, tampering with attendance and

producing fake documents?

5. Under what conditions ‘I’ grade given to a student, and can it be reassigned to another

grade at a certain stage?

6. What conditions impose restructuring for candidates underperforming in the MBA

program? Explore the consequences imposed by MBA office in doing so.

7. What are deficit credit points? Explore how it affects a candidate qualifying criteria

for second year as well as for the whole degree?

8. How are grades assigned in IIM Kashipur & tell the total number of Letter grades

used here? If one of your classmates gets 31% in a subject, what will be the next

course of action with him/her?

9. You are running on a very tight schedule and have an assignment due in next 30

minutes. Your friend has already sent you a solution of assignment that he has

submitted. You decide to copy the assignment and submit it to the faculty. What will

be the consequences if you and your friend are found guilty of plagiarism?

10. You find one of your classmates sleeping while the lecture is going on. What will you

do? Does this correspond to any of the rules mentioned in the student’s handbook?
Part B

(Maximum 3 slides can be used for this part. This is a group task and should be done

accordingly)

As part of your second task, you have to suggest an event/interaction/workshop that the

Academic Committee can conduct for your batch. You can refer to the social media handles

of the Academic Committee to see what kind of events were conducted by us so far. Some of

the key points to be kept in mind before submitting the task are:

1) Your entire batch will be participating in the task so make sure it is interesting.

2) Your suggestions should not include any corporate engagement.

3) Feel free to be as creative as you can however the suggestions should be realistic as well.

4) Feasibility of conducting the event offline/online/hybrid mode due to the ongoing

pandemic condition.
