The document is an abstract for a presentation at the 6th International Conference on Engineering Mechanics and Automation about developing the continuous elements method to study the vibration of composite stepped ring-stiffened cylindrical shells made of different materials. The method constructs a dynamic stiffness matrix by assembling continuous elements of cylindrical shells and annular plates. Solutions for natural frequencies and harmonic responses are compared to other approaches and finite element methods, demonstrating advantages in precision, computing time and resources, and reduced model size even at medium and high frequencies. Material and shell properties are also investigated.

The dynamic stiffness matrix of the studied structure has been constructed by using a procedure of assembling continuous elements of cylindrical shells and annular plates having various material properties. Obtained solutions on natural frequencies and harmonic responses by our formulation are compared to results of other approaches and to those of FEM to demonstrate the advantages of CEM: higher precision, time and resources of computing saved, size model reduced even in medium and high frequency range. In addition, the effects of shell and material properties are also investigated. Keywords— Dynamics stiffness matrix, Continuous Element Method, composite shell, stepped shells, ring-stiffened cylindrical shells, vibration of shell.
