Outcomes to be assessed:
5.3.1 Analyses the work and responsibilities of designers and the factors affecting their work

The Task:
Research a well known designer in any field (architectural, environmental, interior, landscape, accessories,
fashion, food, industrial, jewellery, software, promotional and digital media) then produce a report that
includes the following:
 an explanation of the design field the designer works in and the work they do
 how the designer entered the industry (study, qualifications, apprenticeships, internships)
 at least 3 examples of the designers work explaining how the designs came about for example:
inspiration and materials used an evaluation of the 3 examples commenting on the factors of design
 an evaluation of how this field of design and the designers in this field make contributions to our
lives
 an explanation of why you chose this designer
 a bibliography
 graphics and images relevant to the report with annotations
 appropriate headings and sub-headings, page numbers, table of contents and abstract
Extension Task:
 Generate a flyer of the designer – use InDesign to create it. The flyer should include general
information about what they do and the designs they create.
Technical and/or Procedural Requirements:
The report must be word processed using appropriate digital media and be presented in an A4 plastic
folder. Your work must be emailed to the teacher for marking. Please seek permission from your teacher of
the designer you would like to research, only one student per designer.

Warning: No Late Submissions (normal assessment policy procedure will be followed).
