3 READ VALUE OF HAND–HELD TESTER OR OBD II SCAN TOOL(CHECK FOR


OPEN IN ECM)

(a) Disconnect the M1 mass air flow sensor connector.

Sensor Connector ECM (b) Connect the terminals THA and E2 of the E3 ECM con-
nector.

THA HINT:
Before checking, do a visual and contact pressure check on the
ECM connector.

(c) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(d) Select the item ”DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II /
A84871 DATA LIST / ALL / INTAKE AIR” and read its value dis-
played on the hand–held tester or the OBD II scan tool.
Temperature value: 140°C (284°F) or more
E3 (e) Reconnect the mass air flow sensor connector.

OK REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR
ECM Connector A18294 CONNECTOR

CONFIRM GOOD CONNECTION AT ECM. IF OK, REPLACE ECM (See page 10–11)

SHORT IN WIRE HARNESS)

(a) Disconnect the M1 mass air flow sensor connector.

(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.

(c) Select the item ”DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II /

THA DATA LIST / ALL / INTAKE AIR” and read its value dis-
played on the hand–held tester or the OBD II scan tool.
Temperature value: –40°C (–40°F)
E2
(d) Reconnect the mass air flow sensor connector.
