English Home Assignments

Choose one or two of the tasks below. For each task you submit, you can get​ 1.5 or 2
activity points towards your final grade​! Send them to me by email
(andradadanciu@gmail.com) until the 2nd of June.

1. Write a letter to your friend, telling them about how you experience the present
situation, what has changed for you, what you miss, how you make up for it and
what, perhaps, you enjoy. (2P)

Structure your letter into paragraphs, according to ideas. Have an introduction and an
ending, referring to the next step in communicating. Use:
“Dear X”,
and end informally by using:
“Best Wishes”,
“Kindest Regards”,
“Hugs and kisses”,
“Lots of love”

2. What is your most gratifying learning experience? Write about the topic: how you
prepared, who and what helped, what you found most inspiring and/or motivating and
how you measure success. (2P)

3. Write about a communication difficulty you encountered. What caused the problem?
What were the consequences? How did you overcome the problem? What makes for
successful communication? (2P)

4. What role do you think music plays in society? (2P)

5. What makes for a great musical performance? (1.5P)

6. Write an email to your teacher asking for an extension to a submission deadline.

Find an appropriate subject. Structure the ideas into spatially distinct paragraphs:
Background information
Purpose of your message
Ending
Make it concise. Watch out for spelling and grammar mistakes and avoid a too familiar
vocabulary.

You can start with:


“Dr./Professor X,”
“Dear Mr./Mrs.,/Dr./Professor X”
“Hello Mr./Mrs.,/Dr./Professor X” - if you have had previous interactions
Provide context. Introduce yourself, using complete information about the study line and
year. Make requests politely. Sign off appropriately:
“I look forward to hearing from you./ I look forward to your reply.”
“Best regards,” or, more formally: “Sincerely,”
Sign off with your full name.
