Though, women are part of cricket now, but men have been playing it gaining success and
pursuing it over 30years now. So, obviously it had ups and down that’s what I am focusing on in
this presentation. So we will be talking about our cricketing fraternity came to life how our
cricketer’s performed, what they lacked why they laced what the lacked, how it can be cured.
Stats - As you can see that ban won their maximum matches with Zimbabwe, now question
arises why is that?
That’s because Bangladesh played their most no. of matches with Zim and Zim lacked what a
formidable cricketing side could have offered. Next Team is WI.WI had their ups and downs
themselves. They had politics and inside their boards and even in their dressing rooms so that
really did not help them play as team. Now let’s not take the whole credit away from BD.BD
have really won some matches on their own but then again they have been somewhat
beneficiary. Now the next team on the graph is NZ. That may come as a surprise. But if we really
look closely, Bd have won what they won against NZ in BD. When they played in NZ in return,
they lost drastically. Last team on this is Aus, why BD won so rarely against AUS will be
discussed later.
1.Poor management of domestic cricket-In academics student life is the seeding time of life that
exactly what domestic cricket is in cricketing fraternity. Because of that we are not being able to
produce quality cricketers and not being able to give them proper environment to play cricket
among themselves.
2. Test format is the toughest and elegant format of cricket. It challenges cricketer’s skill,
stamina, mind and everything he has to offer as a international cricketer. Because we don't let our
cricketer enough test matches, we are not ensuring a stage where they are being questioned
constantly at highest order. So that’s not really helping us grow as formidable cricketing nation.
That’s stopping us from growing as a formidable nation.
3. Pace bowler-We don't have quality pace bowler/fast bowler that can threat opposition batsmen
and takes wicket at will. What we do have on the other hand is bowler's finishing their quota
without leaving much of impact. Bowlers win you matches even if you score big, if you don't
have the bowlers to defend your total all your brilliance in batting goes in vain. So quality pace
bowlers are important in all three formats of the games.
4. Lack of EFFECTIVE ODI cricket-We played 376 ODI’s that you have seen in afore
mentioned graph. It’s obvious that we have played so many ODI series. Now what it takes for a
ODI series to be effective?
For that to happen, we have to challenge our players in everything they have. It’s only possible if
we play against big TEAMS like England, Australia, India . (SENA)
5. T20- We don't have pinch hitter which is must t-20 in these days. We don’t have enough
players with t-20 like strike rate. So they start slow, we don’t have finishers that can compensate
slow start. And as for the bowling department, we don’t have versatile bowling option that
modern t-20 required like pace bowler with variation, quality wrist spinner. We know that
catches win matches and how important every run in t-20's so fielders may play big role in
winning t-20's.Fielders are not really that much athletic. So they leak runs, they drop catches and
get themselves injured on a regular basis.
We have often seen that the players that are not under national radar, somehow gets lost. So it’s
important to keep them on track and keep them focused and inspired. That’s exactly when mental
health comes in. Because two days ago, we have seen an under -19 players who have won WC
but committed suicide because he did not get a team in Bangabandu t-20 cup. Recognizing
mental health as a serious issue has not yet been a norm in our country let alone in cricket.
