CentreWare Internet Services Upgrade Process

Requirements:

The software .dlm file must be extracted from the .zip file before it can be used
A PC with network access to the device (a crossover cable with self-signed IP address can be used)
The device must have HTTP enabled (enabled by default)

Procedure:

1. Open a new Web Browser window (Chrome works well and will show you the % complete of the f/w upload) and
enter the devices IP address or FQDN.
2. If the device is using SSL, you will be presented with a SSL certificate warning. It is safe to proceed.
3. Select the 'index' link (top right hand side of the Web-UI) then 'Manual Upgrade' from the index window.
4. A login screen may be displayed, use the system administrator's username and password. After entering the
correct username and password the 'Machine Software' page will be displayed.
5. Select the browse button and locate the required f/w .dlm file.
6. Select the 'Install Software' option. After a delay (if using chrome, the % complete is displayed in the status bar)
a pop-up will be shown with the message 'File has been submitted'; Click OK.

If a pop-up appears displaying 'File has not been submitted', repeat the process from step 6, ensuring the correct .dlm
file is being used.

Within several minutes, the device will go into the upgrade mode. A message will be displayed on the device's local
user interface, indicating that the software is about to start. During the actual upgrade, the device will not be available
via the network. Soon after this, the upgrade interface windows will be displayed on the devices local UI, showing the
upgrade progress of all the relevant modules. Once the relevant modules have finished upgrading, the device will
automatically reboot. After the reboot has completed, a software upgrade report will print followed by a configuration
report. Refer to the software upgrade report and confirm that 'Software upgrade result' is shown as 'Success'.

USB Upgrade Process

Requirements:

Must use a USB memory stick with at least 1GB of free space.
The .dlm file must be in a folder name Upgrade at the root level of the USB drive while ensuring that you DO
NOT have a folder called ALTBOOT at the root of the USB drive.

Procedure:

1. While the power is on insert the correctly configured USB memory stick into the USB slot at the front or side of
the device.
2. Within 10 minutes, the local UI will display a message 'Machine NOT available' and 'Please wait....services are
being retrieved'.
3. Soon after this, the upgrade interface window will be displayed on the device's local UI, showing the upgrade
progress of all relevant modules.

4. After the upgrade has completed the network controller will initialize, and after a delay it will automatically print a
configuration report.
5. The device is ready for use.

Forced ALTBOOT upgrade process

Requirements:

Must use a USB memory stick with at least 1GB of free space.
The .dlm file must be in a folder name ALTBOOT at the root level of the USB drive while ensuring that you DO
NOT have a folder called Upgrade at the root of the USB drive.
Within the ALTBOOT folder on the USB drive a file name FORCED_UPGRADE (case sensitive with no file
extension) must be included. A copy is attached to this solution article.
If you wish for no data to be restored so it's a fresh install, ensure you include the file
DISABLE_DATA_BACKUP in your folder. A copy is attached to this solution article.

Procedure:

1. Power down the device.

2. While the power is off insert the correctly configured USB memory stick in the USB slot at the front or side of the
device.
3. Power on the machine and within a few minutes, the upgrade interface window will be displayed on the device's
local UI, showing the upgrade progress of all relevant modules.
4. After the upgrade has completed, the device's local UI will display as message asking you to remove the USB
memory stick and press the '0' hard key on the local control panel.
5. The device will reboot numerous times and will also encrypt it's HDD.
6. After about 20 minutes, the device will come to ready and print a software upgrade report and a configuration
report.
7. Some devices and some firmware revisions will now perform a secondary f/w upgrade, usually for the scanner
and any finishing equipment attached. This will happen automatically within a few minutes of the device coming
to ready after the initial f/w upgrade.
8. Once the upgrade is fully complete, the device will require full reconfiguration for connecting to the customers
network.

Drive should look like below: (This is for 75xx device; firmware will change depending on model)
