1. What new trend or format do you think social networks are moving to? Think short term (2
years) and long term (10 years). Examples of social media formats: short-form videos -
Instagram Reels and direct audio chats - Clubhouse.
The trends or format that I see that will move in the social networks in the short and long
term are:
Video will have even more prominence on social media than it is today. In fact, they have a
long way to go, especially if we consider that they are linked to the most used networks such
as Facebook.
Virtual reality: this trend is one step away from reaching social networks, according to an
expert. And there are already networks that have implemented Virtual Reality (VR) to
improve the user experience through glasses.
Live Streaming, Live streams are in line with the trend as users plan to continue watching
videos and interacting at streaming events during the pandemic. For this reason, both
Facebook and Instagram are expanding their tools to do direct, for example, adding the
possibility of introducing direct purchase links or including ads in videos.
Gaming, the confinement has caused an avalanche of video players, therefore, we will see a
fusion of the world of social networks with that of video games; and brands will bet on this
new scenario to connect with the audience.
Personalization is one of the objectives within the networks since it allows users to approach
social networks with the creation of content to very specific people based on their tastes,
preferences and concerns.
2. How can brands adapt to existing platforms and drive sales?
Drive sales specifically through Instagram
Drive sales specifically through TikTok
Drive sales specifically through the clubhouse
In instragam I would boost sales by showing a product when I take photos or videos and
also while using it, telling a story of the articles to connect more with users so that they buy.
Also using the hashtag so that people find the product or content easier, running contests
and promotions to spread it and gain more popularity and finally use the opinions or photos
of the product made by the followers to gain more confidence and encourage the followers to
buy.
In tiktok I would boost sales by making eye-catching, fun and entertaining videos and at the
same time showing the product or content that I am promoting, in order to attract more users
and be able to connect with each one of them.
And finally, in the clubhouse, being a network that is based solely on audio, it would make
sales generating empathy and trust with users, creating rooms and announcing something to
gain visibility and reputation through participation and conversation, to move forward and be
able to make my sales.
