Background of the Study

Nowadays, there are numerous activities, sports, and leisure that exist here in Bacolod
City, and the number of people engaging in the different activities are only increasing gradually
as much of us already have an improved access to all new and interesting information through
the word of mouth, social media and throughout the internet. According to Maggie Peikon
(Wanderlust,2014), “The possibilities are absolutely endless when it comes to trying something
new, and whether it’s a big or small leap outside your comfort zone, you’ll still reap the
benefits.” This quote is relevant to the business idea of the researchers of this study since the
proposed business will be something new and unique to the active citizens of Bacolod City. 

 At this point, the researchers will present “Bows Eye. Leisure and Cafe”  Enjoy Archery with
Us!” In this business idea, the researchers are planning to offer an enjoyable, safe-oriented and
beginner-friendly sport of archery to the customers. This business idea is targeted to all  people
of Bacolod City in all age groups as long as they are physically able and mentally straight to use
a simple bow and arrow. In order for the offered activity to be safe and non-intimidating to the
customers, the business will employ trained staff and basic instructors for those who are trying to
enjoy the game of archery for the very first time. The sport of archery may look immense and
intimidating as what the people see in the pro athletes as they look well focused and trained, this
sport can be actually enjoyed as immediately with the help of the well trained and friendly
instructors as it requires the users of the bow and arrow equipment or the customers, to challenge
themselves to their own pace and skill and reap the rewards for their efforts and satisfaction.
Safety gears will be included for the customer’s added safety.  In addition, the business aims to
integrate into the location, a cafe and food section in order for the customers to sit, drink, eat and
relax while their friends and loved ones enjoy the game. The cafe can also serve as a queue place
for those who wish to wait a turn to use the archer’s space and alley. This space will have a
visible access to the ongoing archery sessions of customers who availed the offered equipment
use and witness their progress and limitless enjoyment. 

The leisure and cafe business idea will potentially introduce positively the sport of archery to the
citizens of Bacolod city since this sport is already existing, however few people can only access
to this sport because of the exclusivity only to committed sponsored athletes and the high value
of offered bow and arrow equipment. The introduction of sport to the city will open up
opportunities for the existing Bacolod citizen archery coaches and will ideally grow the sport
within the area.  

This business idea is not new since there are already businesses similar to this that exist within
the country. However, the researchers will additionally study the potential of this business idea
since this business and sports service offer will be first of its own here in Bacolod City. 

In this study, the researchers will cover business considerations whether this business
opportunity will be feasible to maintain and make profit.

  

Statement of the Problem

These are the questions which aims to support the feasibility of our business:

 What are the different jobs and their qualifications that would be required in order for the
business to be fully permitted  and  safe for the customers in accordance with the business
safety inspectors?
  What marketing strategies would be used to increase the sales of the business?

 What will be the setting strategy in order to make the business profitable considering it is
a sports facility and will be offering food.

 What level of profitability can make our business sustainable for a span of five (5) years
or more?

 What kind of effect will the business have on society and the economy?

Significance of the Study

The results of this study will be of great benefit to the following:

ENVIRONMENT. The proposed business’ plan of using recyclable materials for their food
packaging and containers and minimum use of plastic will contribute to lessen the amount of
plastic waste to the society as well as promote eco- friendly efforts.

HOMEOWNERS/CUSTOMERS. The business will make the sport accessible to all members
of the society of Bacolod City and surrounded thus encouraging the customers of the positive
satisfaction and mental practices that the sport of archery positively promotes and introduce a
new sport to engage on for all interested. This business will also provide them a place for
relaxation and hangouts as a part of the modern citizen’s lifestyle.

OTHER RELATED BUSINESS. This business idea will potentially grow and strengthen the
sport of archery to the City of Bacolod and surrounded thus opening new opportunities for those
who might be interested in venturing  new hobby and influencing an economy within the archery
equipment and alike.
SPORTS COMMUNITY. This study can open up a potential to grow range of sports here in the
city of Bacolod much especially in the sport of archery thus opening a new circle of interests to
the people.

Researchers. This feasibility study will equip and familiarize the researchers of these
requirements, parameters and skill needed to consider in order to create and idealize more
business ideas to be presented and executed in the future efforts for each of the researchers

FUTURE RESEARCHERS. The findings of this study will serve as a useful reference to those
who would plan to make any related business or study and can serve as a reference for a new
idea of business to be pursued in a scope of society.

Scope and Limitations

 The target audience of this proposed business idea by the researchers  are all members of
the society including all games as long as physically and mentally capable of using an
archery equipment.

 There will be added limitations and rules to be followed as to abide to the business safety
inspectors that could affect the capacity and utilization of location in order to efficiently
accept a wide group of customers. 
Project Site/Proposed Location with Vicinity Map

The proposed location for the business will be found in  the areas surrounded by the
subdivision of Greensville homes, Bethany Court subdivision and beside the road access
connecting and leading to more communities which is also passed by PUJ Fortune Towne
Sector. The reason behind this chosen location is that a big average of people can have access
and is widely exposed for visibility for also a large number of daily passersby and to those who
will access the road shortcut to Country Homes and leading to Bacolod- Silay Airport Highway. 
This business location can also be helpful for the business in times of need for additional
necessary supplies since the SM Savemore supermarket is only less than a kilometer away. The
researchers have also observed that the business location can also capture the drivers and the
public coming from vicinity leading to the area of Homesite since this location is in the corner of
roads.

Facilities

Ideally, the business will present itself as a leisure sports facility open for everyone
especially to beginners. The business will provide basic Archery equipment including the bow
and arrow, safety gear, target face for the customers, safety arrow receivers as well as trainers for
added safety and proper guidance for the customers. In the same location, the researchers will
also utilize the are to put a sit, drink and relax café for the customers to stay. The café itself
ideally, will primarily serve baked goods, and beverages such as coffee, drinks, and water. This
will help the business increase it revenue as well as provide a comfort zone to potential
customers.

Marketing Strategy

This business will increase its strength in customer potential-wise by means of marketing
it to all people as presented, “now matter who you are, what age are you, regardless of
experience or no experience at all, the Bows Eye will make you enjoy the game of archery with
full satisfaction and enjoyment as well as giving you an experience for a different kind of
interesting challenge.” The researchers are will also present the business offers to be a way for a
family to bond and play. The researchers have also the idea of giving the target face to the
customers as it is a part of their payment and included in costs in order for it to be perceived as a
souvenir to them. We also have the idea of giving a free target face design keychain to the first
few customers of the business in a desired period of time and eventually shifting another strategy
of giving away freebies which will be a part of our marketing gimmicks and increasing the
business brand awareness. More efficient ideas will eventually follow for the researchers to
include in this feasibility study marketing section.
