Making of a new india through biodiversity and agricultural prosperity.

India is a treasure chest of biodiversity which hosts varieties of flora and fauna which
are interdependent. India is a country with just 2.4 percent of total world geography but
with more than 50000 types of flora and 81000 types of fauna. Our agricultural history
dates back to Indus valley civilization. ​India ranks second worldwide in farm outputs.
Agriculture employed more than 50% of the Indian work force and contributed 15–18%
to the country's GDP. Even though there has been a gradual down in its contribution to
GDP of India, agriculture is currently the biggest industry in India. On the whole, it plays
a key role in the socio-economic growth of the country

India is a prosperous country with many resources within easy reach in specimens of
flora and fauna.Our India is rich in resources which makes it easy to prosper.
Conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity is fundamental for our New India The
flora has many types of medicinal plants which have no side effects or are non-narcotic.
More than 15% of modern medicines contain these plant’s derivatives, due to these
reasons there is a high demand in both developing and developed countries. Producing
a high yield medicinal is the first step of upgrading New India.The main reasons for the
biodiversity is for tourism, as the tourist not only visits areas with high biodiversity but
pay for the preservation of such areas for being in their natural state or the mesmerizing
species of animal and plant which also create a source of income. Biodiversity
conservation may not be a concern for a majority .If it is based on majority rule we could
not exclude the minority. Ecological life support— biodiversity provides functioning
ecosystems that supply oxygen ,air ,water, and many ecosystem services ,many
recreational activities on. It also provides nutrient storage and recycling, Aids in
breaking down pollutants,climate stability ,Provide food resources that are crop
diversity.So we must bind biodiversity in the construction of our new India.

As we Indians Mainly depend on Agriculture, it is so easy to enhance a New India

through it. But there are certain problems in making a new India on agriculture basis,
expressed reasons farmers suicide were – debt, environment, low produce prices, poor
irrigation, increased cost of cultivation, private money lenders, use of chemical
fertilizers, dry farming, inadequate of maketing facitilites, mismanagement of PDS,
sustainability and crop failure. If our new India has a great advantage for farmers we
could easily reduce the farmer’s suicide. Though a majority of our India population is
farmers, they are now working in urban areas as plumbers, in construction sites, etc.
Practically, there is an increase in the IT sector all over the world but a slight decrease
in the Agriculture sector which is mainly due to a myth that poor and uneducated can do
farming whereas Educated people can work only in IT or well flourished fields. Many
parents did not give farming as an option for their children's career. These would make
our future India with no Farmers. We can't even imagine such a situation even if we
could grow necessary fruits and vegetables but what about rice, wheat ,maize etc. The
efficient use of resources and technology may be a great step ahead. There are also
many ways such as remunerative prices, strengthening the agriculture machinery ,low
interest, productivity etc.. We know the flood issues in Kerala and Water shortage in
Tamilnadu. If there is a proper planning between the states we could easily solve the
water issue or if any disputes arrives centre could involve in this. Thus the water
shortage can be easily solved. As we know India has reported the largest number of
deaths of children below five years due to malnutrition. It is due to lack of nutritious food
for children. As due to high prices of food the poor can’t afford to buy the food. If there is
a great output for farmers gradually the prices would decrease. We could ensure
diversification of Agriculture. We could go for Organic farming with a ban of high
chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Agriculture is not only important for food but also for
our necessities like jute , sugar , oil etc.

Biodiversity is a part of our lives and livelihood which decides the quality of life our
future generation would live.Attributed to the vast variation in physio-graphic and
climatic conditions in India, important to the well-being of our planet .Greater species
diversity ensures natural sustainability for all life forms.We can better withstand and
recover from a variety of disasters. It also played an important role in external trade.
India is a multiproduct agricultural powerhouse. There is always a scope for New India
with agriculture and biodiversity
