... Low carbon steel is the least expensive type of steel and commonly used for construction purposes due to its
availability, low cost and good mechanical properties, but it is highly susceptible to corrosion, especially when
exposed to atmospheric oxygen in a wet environment [1].Due to the high corrosion of carbon steel, different
investigations have be conducted to reveal the corrosion characteristics of selected steels in different
environments such as HCl, H 2 SO 4 , NaOH, processed water, rain water, municipal tap water, cassava extract,
cocoa extract etc. [2] [3] [4]. ...

Anode weight loss and polarization studies of brass in nitric, hydrochloric and sulphuric acids indicate that the copper dissolves in
the cuprous state in hydrochloric acid whereas it is in cupric form in the other two acids. In nitric acid the local cell corrosion is
completely stopped, when made sufficiently anodic showing a positive difference effect.

The effect of 1-phenyl-3-methylpyrazol-5-one (HPMP) on the corrosion of mild steel in hydrochloric acid (HCl) solution was
studied using chemical (weight loss) technique. HPMP acts as an inhibitor in the acid environment and inhibition was found to

increase in temperature. ... [Show full abstract]
