‘’TRADITIONAL FACE-TO-FACE CLASSROOM PROMOTES

BETTER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT’’

Face-to-face education involves traditional classroom learning where an

instructional method and learning material are taught in person to a group of students.
However, with fast-developing technology and changing student lifestyle, students were
introduced to a new learning environment which is online learning. In addition, the Covid-19
pandemic has a major impact on today's education system. The Covid-19 has resulted in
learning institutions shut across the world. As a result, education has changed dramatically,
whereby teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms such as Google Meet and
Zoom. In Malaysia, halfway through the academic year in 2020, learning methods were
delivered through online classes. I completely agree to the statement ‘’traditional face-to-
face classroom promotes better learning environment’. This is because traditional face-to-
face learning ensures a better interaction, less distraction and not all subjects can be taught
online.

Face-to-face learning ensures a better interaction between the students and the
teachers. This is said because students can understand and focus better on what the
teachers are conveying to them through face-to-face interactions. For example, students
can ask questions directly to the teacher when they do not understand anything. This will
help the student to learn better as they will not be confused or blur about any of the studies
that is being explained. To sum up, traditional face-to-face classroom does play important
part in the interaction between the students and the teachers.

In my opinion, traditional face-to-face class can reduce distraction. Students who

join classes are exposed to more distractions than in face-to-face classes. In some cases,
some students would get distracted with their social media replying texts, answer emails
and even play video games during online classes. They are often multitasking with non-
academic matters. Face-to-face classes promotes a better learning environment as some
classrooms either limit or forbid students to being on their gadgets. Students are also able
to focus more on their tutor in face-to-face classes. In summary, face-to-face class could
ensure students’ attention during classes.

In addition, traditional face-to-face classes promotes better learning environment

as not all subjects or topics can be taught online. This is because certain subjects cannot be
taught just by explaining it verbally as it requires practical explanations. For instance,
science related subjects such as biology, chemistry and physics requires students to carry
out various experiments in lab for them to understand better. Practical experiments as
mentioned before helps students to visually observe what happens in front of them and
learn better through it. Therefore, face-to-face classes is way affective when it comes to
certain subject or topic that are taught.

In conclusion, traditional face-to-face classroom is proven to be better alternative

for a better learning environment. Despite the increasing use of technology, it fails to
prepare a well-rounded student for the real world. There are so many advantages of face-
to-face classes or education discussed and it cannot be denied.
