Reflective Summary
7.4 - Professional reflection and learning to improve practice

Question: Do you feel that this collection of work really reflects your abilities
and what you have achieved through the LDM course? Why or why not?
The Philippine education system is struggling to adapt to the sudden and
major shift to distance learning during the Covid19 pandemic. Schools were
forced to shift from different modalities like online classes, modular, synchronous
and asynchronous and the like. No one felt easy, everyone is a beginner. LDM
Course was introduced last year and we were tasked to attend series of webinars
for us to understand what this means and its role in the new normal. As I was
preparing for the documents to be compiled in the first portfolio, this LDM made
me realize how important to constantly communicate and be attached to your
students in this time of crisis. Monitoring plans, weekly home learning plans were
made for the teacher to instruct students in detail what they were going to do even
with the absence of the physical teacher. Monitoring plans to monitor the
progress of the students. These were some of the many documents to be compiled
in the portfolio. I was furious at first, I think everyone is for the additional work
to be given, but slowly, this gave me realizations on how to do well in this trying
time. As am I writing this essay and preparing for the second portfolio to be
submitted, I feel the eagerness and the spirit to finally gather all the documents
that prove how we will about to survive this school year.
In this time, the continuous in-service trainings, different webinars, and
LDM course given to teachers were a major help to constantly adapt to this
sudden shift. These professional developments are always a long-term goal to
teachers to prosper and improve in this noble craft.
