Integrated Power System(IPS) and Differential Power System(DPS)

=IPS(Integrated Power System)

-It is a source of power output in which all components of the system are dependent together to
produce specified amount of horsepower.

-If any of the component is separated from the system, The entire module of the system shuts down in
a result as no power.

-Most of the components of the system are operated by the machine as it is integrated within the
system.

Let’s consider the example;

The Ferrari LaFerrari has KERS in order to improve the performance and it is a dependent component as
it is integrated to the source of the engine. Once the KERS is removed from the input of the system the
entire module shuts down as a result of no power.

=Differential Power System(DPS)

-It is a source of power output in which all components of the system are independent together to
produce specified amount of horsepower.

-If any of the component is separated from the system, The entire module will function with power
variations in the system.

-Most of the components of the system are operated by the machine or manually.

Let’s consider the example;

McLaren P1 has manual KERS which is done by the driver. If the KERS is removed from the inputs of the
system. The module will still operate with power variations.
