1. Do you think she took the appropriate steps? Why or why not?

What, if anything,
do you suggest she do now?

Lamia Chowdhury took the appropriate steps as per my knowledge. Lamia's response to
the situation was a well-thought-out strategy in which she weighed the benefits and drawbacks of
each option. For example, there are both benefits and drawbacks in internal and external
recruitment, so she accepted the strategies to hire the best candidates quickly to balance the
company’s current loss.

External recruiting is seen as a costly approach, however rehiring former personnel and
retaining a few high-performing existing employees helps keeping the cost down. Promotions
within the firm may cause disappointment, but the decision to promote a certain employee was
made entirely based on performance, not based on preference.

However, appointing new Board of Directors and expecting them to operate in the best
interests of the firm is too much to ask. Furthermore, referrals were considered, so there is the
possibility that existing workers might suggest individuals they had previously worked with and
who shared similar interests.

Suggestions for Lamia Chowdhury may include;

I. Training and development of the new and existing employees.
II. Establishing a general performance scale for all employees, so that everyone can
demonstrate their commitment to the firm and get appropriate performance appraisal.
III. A seminar can be conducted for the employees according to their department just to
provide them insights about their job responsibilities.
