Corporate Overview
Mr Nzima is professionally registered as Pr. CHSA with SACPCMP. He has further been appointed by
the Council as member of the Assessors Board for Agents registrations.
Nzima has 17 years of experience in construction health and safety. He has also led occupational
safety on various construction projects in Swaziland, Mozambique and South Africa. Amongst which
included the construction of the R1.2 billion prestigious Maguga Dam in Swaziland, the construction
of the Mozal Smelter in Mozambique. Further projects include the N11 Piet Retief- Ermelo
Road in Mpumalanga and the R1.8 billion pipe line project in the Northern Cape.
Nzimahas also attained experience in the mining and metallurgical environment in Rustenburg
where he was appointed Chief of Safety for the Xstrata Alloys Smelters. He developed Trigger Alert &
Response Program (TARP) for high voltage arc furnace explosions which was aimed at ear1y
detection of furnace explosions and mitigation plans for improved metallurgical safety.
He has presented papers at various conferences on topical health and safety issues in South Africa.
Such conferences include the Annual Construction Management Conference and the Annual
NOSHCON Conference hosted by NOSA

SANRAL appointed SSI (Royal Haskoning) to undertake Consulting Services for the Assessment,
Detailed Design, Contract Documentation and Monitoring of the Asphalt Overlay of National Route
N17 Section 1 from Rossetenville Rd (Km54) to Wits Rifle (Km 60)
Preparation of Feasibility Study and Business Plan, construction of new raw water pipeline,
refurbishment of water treatment. Design of long-term raw water supply comprising of a borehole
development, pump stations, reservoirs, rising main and extensions to water treatment works.
Detailed review of the hydraulic design, design of surge protection measures as well as the detailed
design of DN315 HOPE bulk pipeline from Graytown Water Treatment works to Stanger Road
Reservoir, approximately 5,2km long.

Doubling of rail line stations and level crossing elimination from EersteFabrieke to Greenview –
South Africa
The project was for doubling of the rail line between EersteFabrieke and Greenview, provision of a
new station at Greenview, upgrading of the stations at Mamelodi Gardens and Pienaarspoort and
the elimination of a level crossing at Pienaarspoort, in Tshwane, Gauteng
The project is located in Mpumalanga Province on National Route N2 Section 34 from Piet Retief
(kmO.OO) to Ermelo (km 102.00). The work comprises of base and surface patching, rut filling and
appropriate surface texture treatment over certain section, reconstruction by means of recycling
existing base and surfacing to exist ng vertical alignment. The work also involves recycling of existing
base and surfacing to form the new sub base and the construction of a new granular base, followed
by an appropriate seal over the entire length of the road. Ancillary works include concrete line.

Presented a four-part series of lectures to 2nd and 4th year students (about 40–50 in total)
in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering on Environmental Impact Assessment
and Environmental Management Plans. The lectures included other components of
Integrated Environmental Management (June 2004).
Received a commendatory letter, which is only awarded to the best Teaching Assistants in
recognition of their invaluable role as mentors for undergraduate students.
