Q.1: Differentiate between squirrel cage rotor and phase wound rotor
of Induction Motor.

Q.2: The power input to the rotor of a 440 V, 50 Hz, 6 pole, 3 phase
induction motor is 40 kW. The motor is operating with a speed of 980 rpm.
Calculate

(i) Slip of Induction Motor.

(ii) Mechanical power developed.

(iii) Rotor copper loss per phase.

Q3: A 3 phase, 8 pole Induction Motor having a delta connected rotor has an induced emf of
50 V at standstill at open circuits. The rotor has a resistance and reactance per phase of 1.5 SI
and 6 It respectively. Calculate
(i) Current/phase in the rotor circuit.

(ii) Synchronous speed when the supply frequency is 50 Hz.

(iii) Slip of Induction Motor when the rotor is rotating at 700 rpm.
Q.4: A 5 kVA 200/1000 V, 50 Hz, single phase transformer gave the following test results:
0.0 Test (L.V side): 200 V. 1.5 A, 90 W.

S.0 Test (H.V side): 50 V, 5 A, 110 W.

(i) Calculate the parameters of the transformer referred to the H.V

side.
(ii) Calculate the output secondary voltage when delivering S kW at 0.7
lagging, the input primary voltage being 200 V.
Q. 5: A 500-V, 50-kVA, 1-cp alternator has an effective resistance of 0.2 a A field current of 10
A produces an armature current of 200 A on short-circuit and an e.m.f. of 450 V on open circuit.
Calculate the full-load regulation at pl. 0.8 lag.
