Unit 6 The United Kingdom or Great Britain?

1 Read the sentences and write the correct name for


each of the maps ± United Kingdom, Great Britain
or the British Isles.
Great Britain is the term used for the island that contains
England, Scotland and Wales.
The United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales
and Northern Ireland.
The British Isles is the geographical term used to describe
all the islands above France including the Republic of
Ireland.
Remember that someone from Scotland, Wales or Ireland
is Scottish, Welsh, Irish or British, not English!
