CALCULATION OF FIXITY OF PILES (For Long piles i.e. Le > 4T)
Refer Appendix-C of IS:2911(Part-I;section-2)
EI
The Equivalent Length of Cantilever; T =5 K1

Where, for Concrete Grade = M35

And Dia of the Pile d = 120 cm
4
Moment of Inertia =πd4/64 I = 10182857.14 cm = 0.10182857 m4
2
Young's Modulus of concrete E = 315000 Kg/cm = 31500000 KN/m2
Constant K1 for dense sand = 0.525 Kg/cm2
T = 360.75 cm = 3.61 m
L1 = 0.300 m
L1/T = 0.0832
From Fig.2 of Appendix -C of IS:2911
For, L1/T = 0.0832 ; Lf/T = 2

Hence, Lf = 2.00 x 3.61 = 7.21 m

Embedded length Le = 19.300 m > 14.43 m,(4T); Hence pile will behave like a long column
For fixed head pile and L1/T = 0.0832 , reduction factor m = 0.87 (Fig-3B of IS:2911)
Moment at the critical section = m.Q.(L1+Lf)/2
= 0.87 x 3.7575 x Q
= 3.269 Q where Q is the horizontal force applied at the top of the pile
Wt. of the pile upto critical section = 191.14 KN
3
Q(L1+Lf)
The pile head Deflection Y = = 0.8065 < 12 mm ;hence O.K.

CALCULATION OF FIXITY OF PILES (For Long piles i.e. Le > 4T)
Refer Appendix-C of IS:2911(Part-I;section-2)
EI
The Equivalent Length of Cantilever; T =5 K1

Where, for Concrete Grade = M35

And Dia of the Pile d = 120 cm
4
Moment of Inertia =πd4/64 I = 10182857.14 cm = 0.10182857 m4

Young's Modulus of concrete E = 315000 Kg/cm = 31500000 KN/m2
Constant K1 for dense sand = 0.525 Kg/cm2
T = 360.75 cm = 3.61 m
L1 = 0.300 m
L1/T = 0.0832
From Fig.2 of Appendix -C of IS:2911
For, L1/T = 0.0832 ; Lf/T = 2 [Ref: Fig. 4 APPENDIX - C of IS - 2911 (Part 1/ Sec 2)]

The Equivalent Length of Cantilever; T =5 K1

Where, for Concrete Grade = M35

And Dia of the Pile d = 120 cm

Young's Modulus of concrete E = 315000 Kg/cm = 31500000 KN/m2
Constant K1 for dense sand = 0.525 Kg/cm2
T = 360.75 cm = 3.61 m
L1 = 0.300 m
L1/T = 0.0832
From Fig.2 of Appendix -C of IS:2911
For, L1/T = 0.0832 ; Lf/T = 2 [Ref: Fig. 4 APPENDIX - C of IS - 2911 (Part 1/ Sec 2)]
