ACTIVITY 1

PERSONAL GLOSSARY

1.BASIC TERMS FROM THE MODULE

 ANALYSIS DEPARTMENT – One or more person who is undertaken to optimize


performance, support the coaching staff, improve performances and deliver tactical
insights to help win football matches.
 COACHING STAFF – The individual or group of persons who co-ordinate, instruct,
motivate and organise football teams.
 IMPLEMENTATION – The process of putting a plan or a decision into effect.
 TECHNICAL STAFF – The backroom staff of the football team, i.e the assistant
coach, fitness coach, nutritionist etc.
 WORKFLOW – Sequence of tasks that processes a set of data.

2.TECHNICAL ORGANISATION OF A SOCCER CLUB

 GAME ANALYSIS DEPARTMENT – Set of analysts who are in charge of


monitoring the opponent’s and own team game.
 PROFESSIONAL TECHNICAL STAFF – The chief-trainer analyst, performance
analyst etc, together make up the professional technical staff.
 SOCCER ACADEMY – The place where professional training is given to future
players who are either beginners or intermediate level.
 SPORTS MANAGEMENT – People who are responsible for managing the football
club, players and the analysis department reports to them.
 TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT/SCOUTING – People responsible for
identification, observation and analysis of talent.

3.STRUCTURES OF A SOCCER PLAYER

 COGNITIVE STRUCTURE – Players who are able to identify and acquire


information, also are good for problem solving.
 CONDITIONAL STRUCTURE – Players whose physical fitness is very good.
 EMOTIONAL – VOLITIONAL STRUCTURE – The way players can handle their
emotions and their will power is good.
 PSYCHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE – The mental strength of the players is very
good.
 TECHNICAL AND TACTICAL STRUCTURE – The player has the ability to play
according to the club’s style of play.

4.GEOGRAPHICAL AREA OF SCOUTING

 DISTRIBUTION CRITERIA OF SCOUTS – The direct and indirect processes


involved.
 INTERNATIONAL SCOUTING – An indirect approach where the process is more
selective and specific. The established geographical areas, leagues and competitions
are distributed among available analysts.
 LOCAL LEAGUE ARRANGEMENTS – Football matches are held for
identification and selection of potential players.
 LOCAL/REGIONAL SCOUTING – A traditional approach of directly observing
the potential players. The geographical area is defined.
 NATIONAL SCOUTING – The observation process might be both direct and
indirect and the process is more complicated. Geographical distribution involves
smaller designated smaller areas for study of clubs and institutions that can offer
interesting player profiles to the entity.

5.TYPES OF ANALYSTS

 AUDIO-VISUAL TECHNICIANS – Professionals in-charge of managing the


image, sound and the software associated with it.
 CHIEF TRAINER ANALYST – The person who serves as a liason between the
analysis department and other areas of the club.
 DATA ANALYST – People who collect data and analyse them, mathematicians and
statisticians are a part of this team.
 GAME ANALYST – People in charge of monitoring and supervising the opponents
and own team’s game.
 PERFORMACE ANALYST – People who plan, organise and monitor the work of
the department under the supervision of the chief trainer analyst.
6.ANALYSIS SECTION

 CLUB’S TEAM ANALYSIS – Direct and indirect analysis of our own players and
our training.
 METHODOLOGICAL ANALYSIS – Scheduling imbalances and correcting
deviations
 OPPONENT TEAM ANALYSIS – Direct and indirect analysis of the opponent
team, about their strengths and weakness.

7.REPORTING

 HIGHLIGHTS OF A GAME – Recordings from the previous matches that can be


edited and shown to the players and coaching staff.
 IMAGE REPORTS – Images that can be shown to the players and the staff for
further understanding.
 VR – Virtual reality, that is used as a training aid for football and can be used for
measuring the players performance.
 WRITTEN REPORTS – A written report about our strategic planning and game
plan of our training and opponent team.
