In spite of the best efforts of the staff, the waiting period for
treatment is rather long owing to the shortage of beds.
Emergency facilities like ICU and ventilateror enabled beds are inadequate to meet the rising demand from COVID infected patients. However it was a relief to find oxygen tankers stationed outside most of the hospitals. The big hospitals like Manipal and Columbia Asia have also made arrangements of oxygen on wheels among other facilities. Significantly, as compared to the government hospitals, the private hospitals seemed to be better equipped in medical facilities. Though a marginals improvement has been noticed in the availability of ICU beds, the city hospitals cannot breathe a sigh of relieve, at least not yet.
