Abstract. In this research work the design and fabrication of the turbine for generating power by
changing of fluid flow speeds through the nozzle system on the surface of the blades. A turbine, with
discs of 48mm in diameter, central exhaust, plenum chamber, and swappable nozzles was
constructed. The input fluids are compressed air and water. The number of parallel rotating discs
are fixed on a shaft maintain the gap between each blade. The tangential flow of fluid strikes the
rotor blades inside the casing of turbine allows to rotate. Due to viscous and adhesive forces acting
on each blade by the fluid inputted causes to rotate the shaft. The simulated and experimental
results are compared and the efficiency is calculated. The entire design of the turbine created in
SolidWorks design software and simulation carried on ANSYS CFX 2018 simulation software. The
power generation and the efficiency of the turbine may change the sources of input and size of the
blades respectively. The fluids I used to evaluated the results of this turbine are compressed air flow
and the compressed water flow. By changing of fluid systems the results may be changed.
Theoretical design of Tesla turbine to determine the parameters such as the diameter of discs,
number of discs, spacing between each disc and thickness of disc. To run the turbine under different
pressures. The running of turbine will develop a mechanical power by the rotation of shaft. This
mechanical power could be utilised in many forms and also to convert it into electricity. Record and
validate the output parameters from the turbine as in the speed of shaft, exit velocity of fluid etc.
Develop the relationships between the inlet and outlet parameters of the turbine. Obtain an
efficiency within the range 7-10%.At the above efficiency it is expected to obtain electrical power
output of 50-60 watts.
