B. Program Description: This program capacitates and provides teachers to use the
contextualized DLL/DLP in ESP 6 for effective teaching and
learning to happen. As clearly emphasized in the K to 12
curriculum, contextualization as one of the key
components of the K to 12 curriculum has
to be done by teachers most particularly in preparing and
delivering their lessons so that the competencies are
relevant and meaningful to the learners. This
program will therefore make teachers’ work
convenient since they will be given free and complete
supplementary materials in preparing their DLL in
ESP 6 for the second quarter.

I. Rationale

One of the key features of the K to 12 curriculum is contextualization.

Contextualization refers to the educational process of relating the curriculum to a
particular setting, situation or area of application to make the competencies relevant,
meaningful, and useful to the learners. It is therefore imperative for teachers to
contextualize their lessons in order to boost teaching and learning outcomes. Thus, they
must be knowledgeable and religious enough in preparing their contextualized lesson as
reflected in their daily lesson log or plan.
However, in performing their duties and responsibilities, they are oftentimes
bombarded with paper works and reports that cause or lead teachers to
downloading internet-based lesson plans which are not effective at times. Likewise,
other teachers rely only on what is being provided in the available teacher’s manual
disregarding the need to put the lesson in the context of the students. Consequently, it
compromises the quality of instruction that our learners do not deserve.
This ready-made contextualized daily lesson plan in ESP 6 for the second quarter
will be helpful for the teachers in which the articles used for every lesson are
originally made so that authentic educative process will be realized in the classroom.
This further serves as a supplementary reference or material for teachers in inculcating
Filipino values and culture through the suggested differentiated activities used in the
lesson in ESP 6.
