Engineering Interests

 Fracture Mechanics
 My strongest engineering interest currently is fracture mechanics. I am interested in
topics such as elastic stress singularities, strain softening materials, quasibrittle fracture,
the scaling of structural strength, multi-scale material modelling, and structural stability. I
am motivated to work on the theory and practice of material fracture, possibly in

5
May 2021

connection with the topics of robustness, progressive collapse, structural health

monitoring, performance-based design, fatigue, and engineering psychology because it
allows me to apply and develop my imagination, critical reasoning, personal leadership,
and research talents. I pursue my interest in fracture mechanics outside of business hours.
 Numerical Structural Analysis
 My strongest engineering and technical skill is numerical structural analysis, including
manual methods and computational methods, such as finite element analysis. I enjoy
applying my knowledge of the mechanics of materials, including linear and non-linear,
elastic and inelastic, and static and dynamic behaviour to engineered structures because it
allows me to apply abstract and analytical reasoning, creativity, and to admire the
working of the natural world. I am most proficient with the software Strand7.
 Government Infrastructure Engineering Projects
 I believe I best contribute to the engineering industry while working directly for a
government agency on public infrastructure projects for an extended duration with a large
team because they provide me time to develop holistic problem solutions, comprehend
and satisfy multiple stakeholder objectives, and most effectively devise sustainable
solutions. My most satisfying projects, Wynyard Walk and Sydney Metro West, have been
transport infrastructure projects.
