Detective tools can cause serious and painful injuries. If a tool is defective in some way, DO
NOT USE IT.
The following are the simple steps in reporting defective tools and equipment.
1. Make a necessary listing of tools equipment and utensils in preparation for checking the
defect.
2. Check the condition of tools and equipment. As soon as the defect found of a certain
tool, equipment and utensils, make a narrative report immediately.
3. Describe the scope of damage, make it clear and understandable.
4. File the report as soon as possible for immediate action.
Defects in tools, Utensils and Equipment can be seen through the item. Rust is also an example
that a utensil is defective. Defectiveness may result for the item to be hard to use or can possibly
be useless.
To ensure safety, remember:
1. Double-check all tools prior to use.
2. Never use a defective tool.
3. Ensure defective tools are removed or tagged “out of service” until they can be
repaired.
