Born to Marc Evans and Penny Adkins in Tottenham, London, in 1988, Lurie Blue

Adkins Adele is an English singer and songwriter (Patterson, 2008). A single mother raised her

after her father left when she was just two years. Adele began to sing when she was four and

admits she became addicted to voices. She relocated with her mother to Brighton to the coast in

the south of England in 1997 at 9 (Patterson, 2008). At age eleven, they went back to London

Brixton and then to Westwood, the subject in her first song, "Hometown Glory" (Heawood,

2007). In her youth, she spent much time at Brockwell Park singing and playing guitar with

friends, events that she recalls in "Million Years Ago," a song he released in 2015. She studied

Performing Arts & Technology in BRIT School, from where she graduated in 2006 with Leona

Lewis and Jessie J. She gives credit to the school for developing her talent as much as, at times,

he felt like going to A&R and expected to promote the careers of other people (Otiji, 2009).

She won an award for the Best Female Pop Vocals and Best New Artist in 2009 at

Grammy Awards. She also got a nomination at the Song of the Year and Record of the Year

category. Her album, 19, saw her nominated at the British Breakthrough Act, British Female

Solo Artist, and British Single of the Year, on which she received a thank-you letter from the

then British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown (Wenn, 2009). The second album, 21, got her six

awards from Grammy records, one of which was Album of the Year, and two awards from Brit,

one of which was British Album of the year. She was the first female and the second person after

Christopher Cross to win four awards in the general field in her lifetime in a music career

(Morris, 2012). This saw her being mentioned severally in the book in the Guinness Book of

World Records. She broke the record of the woman artist to top America's Billboard for the

longest time with twenty-one consecutive weeks. Her third album, which she released in 2015,

25, was the best-selling album that came out as the first week's sale in both U.K.U.K.U.K.U.K.

and U.S.U.S.U.S.U.S. (Caulfield, 2015). The album was her second one to be diamond-certified

in the U.S.A.U.S.A. and earned her five Grammy awards and a Brit Award on the year's album.

This album also earned her British single of the year for “Hello” and a British female solo. She

was the first woman artist to win three Grammy awards on a single occasion. Having won fifteen

awards out of the eighteen nominations, Adele was the first woman born outside America to

have such a record. She was named the singer of 2010s by Israel's largest T.V.and radio station

in December 2019 and, most recently, has been labeled best-selling female artist in the U.K. in

the 21st century in 2021 as per the data in Official Charts Company.

She was named the 'British Queen of Soul' because of her early success in writing and

singing soul music (Toombs, 2012). She has also been complemented to impact how women are

viewed in the music industry as she focuses on music rather than on gender (Topping, 2011). She

was also named the most popular soul living at twenty-seven years the New Yorker (Amanda,

2015). She has been described as the voice of a generation and one of the plus-size women to

ascend to success without fearing peoples’ comments. She is credited for rejuvenating the music

industry in 2011 when she released her album 21. She was referred to as the best pop singer not

only in 2011 but in the 21st century. The 21-album revived the pop industry and gave a modern

face to pop music that could be relatable to the contemporary trends in the music industry. She

has also been ranked in the top hundred musicians of all time.
