A. Content Standards that the South, West, and Central Asian countries have a rich, artistic
and cultural tradition from prehistoric to present times
B. Performance Standards create artworks showing the characteristic elements of the arts of
South, West, and Central Asia
C. Learning *incorporate the design, form, and spirit of South, West, and Central
Competencies/Objectives Asian artifacts and objects to one’s creation (A8PL-IIIh-3)

materials, guided by local traditional techniques (e.g., Ghonghdis,

1. OBJECTIVES  
Knowledge Describe history and characteristics of the famous Art of India;
Skills create own artwork incorporating the design, form and spirit of
Rangoli from India;
Attitude Display determination and patience in making own Rangoli design;
Values perform the activity with cooperation and collaboration with the group
(Makatao).

4. PROCEDURE  
4.1 Introductory Activity
A. Reviewing previous Drill
lesson or presenting The teacher will do a spelling quiz on the following words:
the new lesson 1. Asia 5. Kazakhstan
2. India 6. Tajikistan
3. Pakistan 7. Turkmenistan
4. Uzbekistan 8. Kyrgystan
After the spelling quiz, the teacher will ask the following questions:
 What have you observed about the words being written on the
board?
 What are common among these words?
B. Establishing Purpose
of the lesson The teacher will mount the Asian map on the board and let the
(Motivation) students locate the country India.
4.2 Activity/ Strategy
C. Presenting Examples/  The teacher will now introduce the 1st country to talk about Arts in
instances of the new South, West and Central Asia, the country India. Its history, purpose
lesson and the procedures in making their famous artwork the Rangoli.

4.3 Analysis  The teacher will show the students some sample artworks
D. Discussing New incorporating the rangoli design from India using different
Concepts & Practicing types of materials such as sand, dry flour, salt, glitter dust.

E. Discussing New  The students will now be grouped into 4 groups and each

(Guided Practice) to each group.
Group 1 : Salt Group 3 : Sand
Group 3 : Sugar Group 4 : Dry Flour
 After they finish their group activity, each group will display
their outputs on the wall or board.

4.4 Application
F. Developing Mastery  The teacher will now ask the students to bring out the
(Independent Practice) materials they brought in making their own individual rangoli
inspired art.
 Each student must make their own design and own rangoli
inspired art.
