Data Center Design and implementation Best Practices 10 Mechanical 10.1 Codes, References and Terminology 10.1.1 Code Compliance and Coordination Local building codes shall be consulted in the planning and implementation of changes to the building, ‘mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems. Codes that are commonly enforced globally include: + International Building Code (IBC) + International Mechanical Code (IMC) + International Plumbing Code (IPC) + International Fuel Gas Code (IF GC) ‘The IMC establishes specific requirements for ventilation rates, in coordination with ASHRAE 62.1, and specifies battery room exhaust requirements. State and local adoption of international or uniform codes is often done by incorporation into the state building code with amendments to specific sections. As the scope of amendments may be significant, local amendments shall be checked before making decisions based on code requirements, 10.1.2 References ‘Within Section 10, references to the following documents are listed as follows in Table 10-1. The notation used for standards (¢.z., NFPA 70) remains unchanged. For example. codes use the term “equipment room’ to describe rooms housing mechanical or electrical equipment such as air handlers, pumps, chillers, transformers, and switchgear. However, ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines defines equipment such as servers, storage products, and PCs. 10.2. Typical Heat Rejection and Computer Room Cooling Technologies 10.2.1 Introduction ‘Common heat rejection and cooling systems are presented with general characteristics and illustrations. 10.2.2 Chiller Based Systems 1022.1 Introduction Any combination of the following chiller-based heat rejection systems and computer room cooling systems may be implemented within the computer room cooling design. hicensed to Géfabekaran Raju Unauthorized Uae is Forbidden ~ boc sD 0000 1EEC-15R1C-0D01D¢8R
