Welcome to the Technology and Livelihood Education 7/8 Alternative Delivery Mode
(ADM) Module on Food and Beverage Services – Basic Tools and Equipment!

This module was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by educators both
from public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming
their personal, social, and economic constraints in schooling.

This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent

learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their

What’s new?

Filipino Loves Fiestas! Lita and Lito prepared the table set-up and
served food for barangay fiesta. They are both newly hired in a
restaurant. They are on probation for two months as waitress and
waiter and needs to meet the expectations.

What Is It?

To keep their job more efficient and impressive, both Lita and Lito
needs to learn the different kinds of table skirting to make them more
skilled and flexible in setting tables for any occasions.

Lolit

a is celebrating their barangay fiesta with a Theme Fiesta sa Nayon . She hired a server in a
restaurant and needs to meet the expectations.

Let’s learn with them!

Table Skirting is used to decorate tables for different occasions, for elegance,
and to cover the actual table. The arrangement for a single diner is called a
place setting. The arrangement varies across cultures.

Here are some styles of table skirting:

A box pleat table skirt is made


from a sequence of back-to-
back knife pleats.

French box pleats provide


more volume than standard
box pleats, its pleats are
narrower than a regular box
pleats, giving the bottom of
table skirting a fuller
appearance.

Plastic
This is a cost-effective way to
dress tables for any occasion.

French box pleat table is a


kind of decorative fringe is a
good substitute for table
skirting and serves as a festive
wall border for special
celebrations

Swags are commonly attached
with overlap clips and an easy
way to dress up an otherwise
plain table skirt.

Below are the safety precautions in table skirting

1. Lay the top cloth and fastened with thumbtacks at the edge of the
table.

2. Locate the center of the table and fold the cloth towards it to get the
middle.

3. Fasten the cloth with pins at the center with the middle half of the
cloth.

4. Apply various designs.

5. All sides of the table should be equally skirted and covered.

To achieve the theme, Filipino Loves Fiestas! Lita and Lito will be preparing
the Table set- up according to the different styles of table skirting for barangay
fiesta.

Table Skirting

Materials needed:

table thimble
cloth thumbtacks
pins

Steps/Procedure:

1. Prepare all your needed tools and supplies before the start of the
activity.
2. Set-up the area where you are going to perform the activity.
3. Lay down the table cloth. Make sure the cloth is clean.
4. Find the center of the table where you are going to pin first.
5. Table will be skirted following the different styles.
