THE TEACHING PROFESSION


Basic Guide
Course Description:
Deals with the teacher as a person and as a professional within the context of national and
global teachers’ standards and educational philosophies. It will include professional ethics, core
values, awareness of professional rights, privileges and responsibilities as well as the teachers’
roles in the society as a transformative agent of change.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
1. equip with the knowledge of the multifarious task of a teacher;
2. discuss the various aspects of the teaching profession;
3. understand that teaching is not only a profession but also a vocation and a mission as
well;
4. analyze the importance of National Competency-Based Teacher Standards (NCBTS), the
standards of good teaching in the Philippines and must equipped with the 21 st century in
order to be relevant;
5. identify laws governing education and teacher-related laws; and
6. reflect on one’s involvement in the teaching profession.

1. Answers to assignments, projects, tasks, and activities taken from the internet must not plagiarize
anybody’s intellectual property. 
2. Honesty and integrity (doing the right thing even when no one is watching) must be practiced at all
times. Future teachers must possess both of these characteristics. 

E. On Implementing Environmental Policies  


1.  Use electricity, paper, water and other resources wisely and practice proper waste disposal, including
the 3 Rs of waste management; reduce, reuse and recycle. 

F.Syllabus Change/Modification Policy  

1. Should there be emergencies and unexpected events such as calamities, unfavorable weather
conditions, pandemic, etc., resulting in interruption of classes, the contents of the learning plan will
be adjusted or modified.

G. Course Requirements

1. Quality work and class participation are required. Recitation will be done during synchronous sessions.
2. Projects and assignments are given enough time to prepare, and must be submitted on or before the
3. scheduled date and time. All written work must be computer-generated. However, if due to unavailability of res
written work such as activities, assignments, and projects on paper (learning material) for their convenience.
4. Quizzes could be synchronous or asynchronous.
