We submit the application for the 2021 (C-Innovation) program as follows.

August 8th 2021

1
I. Item of the Entrepreneurship University Team / Lab Startup

A. Motives and objectives

Motives: To be able to cooperate with farmers who are users of the application by providing
a connection with specialist professionals. This need arises from pests and plant diseases
that affect food crops, causing significant losses to farmers, threatening food security and
starting with agriculture 4.0 changing the production model for sustainable agriculture, since
they are laggards in technology and innovation. Added to this problem is the COVID 19
pandemic.
Objective: To turn your mobile phone into a tool that allows you to detect pests and
diseases of pre-harvest crops, making a more efficient monitoring of your production
process. This application would work as a solution to prevent and sustainably manage
agriculture.

B. Entrepreneurship university team item / Lab Startup

MATIKU turns your Android / IOS mobile device into a technological tool, turning it into the
remote crop doctor with which you can detect pests and diseases through a photograph taken
of your crops, then request the consultation in a descriptive or textual way. voice recording to
different specialists; works as a complete solution for the production and management of crops,
making a more efficient monitoring of the production process.

ISSUE
Silent enemy: The coffee berry borer penetrates the cherries and reproduces inside, as
its larval stages chew the grain to feed, causing it to fall and resulting in a loss of
weight and quality of the final product.
The drill would generate a loss of at least S / 120 million in the coffee sector, especially
in plantations installed below 1,500 m.a.s.l. in San Martín, Central Selva, Jaén, Cusco,
Puno, Huánuco and Amazonas. Despite this, it is projected to harvest about 6 million
quintals of coffee (276,000 t), 18% more than that registered in 2020.
MATIKU CURRENT PILOT: Flowering record

2
STAGE 1: 60 days STAGE 2:105 to 120 STAGE 3: 180 days
Currently, with 3 specialists, technical assistance is being given to 522 farmers who
are only 0.21% of the total population, monitoring their coffee crops and others to
prevent the disease caused by the Hemileia vastatrix fungus.
Coffee is the only known host for this fungus belonging to the Phylum Basidiomycota,
Order Uredinales, Family Pucciniaceae.

Target customers
Currently the potential clients are more than 250,000 thousand farmers nationwide
who need technical assistance in agronomic and post-harvest management; This
application is a means of digital connection; In this pilot, the clients will be coffee
growers from the Huánuco region, representing an average of 6,000 thousand
farmers.
Differences:
MATIKU, for the pilot, access and use of the application will be free for coffee growers
in the Huánuco region. He will take a photograph of the crop and upload it to the
application platform, having an immediate response of no more than 3 hours.
OTHERS, In the market there are other applications of different agrochemical
companies where you can check the problem of the crop, but only by text message,
in order to make a purchase of the products they promote, providing a response after
about 40 hours. furthermore, waiting for the return of communication from the
organization.

Competitiveness:
MATIKU seeks to help improve the productivity and competitiveness of the coffee
production chain in the Huánuco region, generating a community of professionals at
the service of farmers.
Although it is true some applications have artificial intelligence, but it does not adapt
to our reality, so many farmers and professionals still do not use it, they are not
friendly and have difficulties in its use, and if they use it has not been 100% effective,
waiting up to 5 months without any solution.

MARKET OUTLOOK AND ANALYSIS

The direct competitors, which have a similar value offer and their market segment

2
have similar characteristics to Matiku's, are the following companies, which actively
operate in the country: PlantNet, PlantSnap, NatureID, FindPlant, among others.
Among the indirect competitors that provide regular non-innovative solutions with a
basic proposal are services operating in the country such as: Química Suiza, Farmagro,
Hortus, Cyto Perú, among others.
It is possible that other companies enter the market with products with similar
functionalities. Likewise, the product barriers were identified:
• High investment for the development of the app
• Build a complete network of farmers / professionals
SIZE OF THE MARKET:
Available customers amount to 5 069 286 users (among farmers, students, collegiate
and businessmen) in Peru, momentarily operations would start with 0.5% as the target
market with a total of 1,267.32 users (among farmers, students, collegiate and
businessmen) who would be interested in acquiring the service, according to their
available purchasing power.

Business model - Value proposition:

requesting consultations through a photograph taken of their crop or others, then a
brief description of the characteristics or also through a voice recording, obtaining a
immediate specialist advice. The value proposition is to give an incentive to the
specialist in accordance with the policy of points obtained.

Sources of income: Commission for the use of the app, Charges for digital and musical
advertising, user subscriptions, subsidies from the Private / Public Sector and

II. Main Technology

A. Summary of main technology
- The problem of pests and diseases during the sowing stage generates a negative
impact on agriculture, resulting in the abandonment of agricultural crops, replacing
them with other non-food (coca, cannabis, others), with this technology the cause can
be reduced significant loss of crops and improve the lack of connection with specialist
professionals.
- Existing technologies have the limitations such as tracking personalized cultivation,
some applications use artificial intelligence and payment has to be made for the use
of that added value while our technology has differences in the perspectives of
interacting with a specialist that speaks in their language, is from their context and
above all, generate a national community that supports our agriculture.

B. Plan to obtain the main technology (* optional point, elaborate if

possible)

C. Plan to get the main technology

To obtain the main technology, four technical components have been defined,
which are:
COMPONENT 1: LITERATURE REVIEW. A review of the literature will be reviewed to
find out what has been done to date on similar initiatives.
COMPONENT 2: DESIGN AND TECHNICAL FILE OF THE MATIKU APP. This
component begins with the development of a process map, identification of metrics,
indicators and techniques that will be used to perform the analysis and design of
the MATIKU application.
COMPONENT 3: PROGRAMMING THE MATIKU APP. With the designs obtained in
the previous component, we will proceed to the programming of the processing
engine, the management module and the user interfaces of the MATIKU APP, as

3
well as the implementation of the database.
COMPONENT 4: TESTING AND VALIDATION OF THE MATIKU APP. For the testing
phase, a test plan will be made, after which the computer system will be deployed
on the server (Amazon Web Services).
Technology Readiness Level:
TRL 4: Technological validation in laboratory environment - low fidelity tests; They
were carried out with different farmers from some associations in the Ucayali,
Huánuco and Cusco region until today.

III. Marketing plan

A. Plan to manufacture the prototype of the item of the team's undertaking
The following activities will be carried out:
• SKETCH DESIGN: to visually materialize what we want to design as a prototype.
• CARRY OUT CONCEPT TEST: from the sketch we will begin to design the product,
seeking to make it as functional as possible.
• RUN ITERATIONS: To find the most efficient and marketable version possible, it
will also allow you to fine-tune the details of the release.
• RUN EXPERIMENTATIONS: to do all the necessary tests to confirm that the
solution really works as expected. LAUNCH PILOT PROTOTYPE.

C. Problems and difficulties of entrepreneurship (* optional point)

The difficulties during the validation process are related to data management (the
photographs) of the different consultations of the farmers, sometimes they are

lost among the personal contacts of the application with which they are currently
working.
