Liquid:

A liquid is a sample of matter that conforms to the shape of a container in which it is

held, and which acquires a defined surface in the presence of gravity.

There are two types liquid in ARISTROPHARMA LTD.

1. Oral liquid
2. Topical liquid.

Oral liquid:

The oral liquid pharmaceutical dosage form is prepared for pediatric and geriatric
patients. The oral liquid pharmaceutical dosage form is very easy to swallowing than solid
dosage form. A drug administrated in solution is immediately available for absorption and
in most cases, is more rapidly and efficiently absorbed than the same amount of drug
administered in a tablet or capsules.
Oral liquid preparations include-
 Oral Syrup
 Suspension

GENERAL MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF ORAL LIQUIDS:
The general manufacturing of oral liquids in the liquid section of ARISTOPHARMA LTD. is
briefly described below with a flowchart:

Weighing of active ingredients and excipients

Mixing of excipients with certain amount of demineralized (DM) water as specified in the
Batch Production Record (BPR) by the aid of a mechanical stirrer

Addition of active ingredients

Passing through a pump to the storage vessel

Transfer of the solution to the filling vessel

Through 0.5 Cartridge filter.


Filling, Flushing of Nitrogen (N2)

& Sealing of Bottles (glass or pet) containing oral liquids

In the washing room, there is –
 A tap water outlet
 A distilled water outlet
 A gas pressure nozzle to dry water faster
For floor cleaning purposes savlon, sodium lauryl sulphate and clotech is used.

In the packaging unit, filled & sealed bottles are sequentially-

o → Labeled
o → Packed with an insert in the intermediate carton
o → finally packed in master carton.

Steps involved in Suspension Preparation:

Dispersion of suspending agent


Transfer to manufacturing vessel containing sucrose solution

Addition of active ingredient and excipients

Mixing with continuous stirring

Adjustment of final volume with purified water

Filling & sealing

Packaging

Topical Liquid:

The topical preparations include the manufacturing of ointments, creams and gels.
Controlled condition is maintained as eye and ear preparations are available. As the
materials used in topical semisolid preparations are susceptible to microbial
contamination entry is strictly maintained as like as sterile zone, which must be highly
appreciated. General flow charts of cream and ointment preparations are shown below:
