Swimming the sport that we human beings have known since ages there is even evidence of

swimming in prehistoric times with the earliest evidence dating to Stone Age paintings from
around 10,000 years ago. Written references date from 2000 BC, with some of the earliest
references to swimming including the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Bible, and the Quran and others,
swimming is an individual or a team game
It emerged as a competitive activity in the 1830s in England. In 1828, the first indoor swimming

pool in the world , St George's Baths was opened to the public. Long distance
swimming
It is distinguished from ordinary swimming in that the distances involved are longer than
are typically swum in pool competitions,it can take place in seas ,lakes or pools one of
the most famous places in the world is the English Channel or La Manche it is between
southern England and northern France the distance swum is approximately 21 miles,the
sport of Channel swimming traces its origins to the latter part of the 19th century when
Captain Matthew Webb made the first observed and unassisted swim across it,
swimming from England to France on 24–25 August 1875 in 21 hours 45 minutes and
after him thousands of people attempted it till now
