L 6.05 m
B 3.2 m
H 1.8 m
L/B 1.891
M25 Grade concrete
Design constants
t= 150 mm^2
c= 10 mm^2

j = 1-k/3 0.87
Q = 0.5*c*k*j 1.67
Design of walls
since ratio of the length to width is less than 2, wall will be designed as horizantal
slab continuous between corner and subjected to triangular load
due to water pressure varying from zero at top to max
height H/4or1m whichever is more
Hence top 1.8-1 =0.8m
water pressure at a depth of 1m from top is given by
pw = w(H-h)
where w 10 kN/m^3
H-h 1 m
Hence pw = 10 kN/m^2
Let thickness of wall be 200 mm
effective span l = 3.2+0.2 3.4 m
B.M at ends =Mf pl^2/12 9.63 kNm/m
causing tension on water face
B.M at center =Mf pl^2/16 7.23 kNm/m
causing tension on face away from water
Direct tension or pull on long/short wall
TL=TB= 1/2*p*L 30.25 Kn
M = Q*b*d^2
b= 1000 mm
d 76 mm
Let Overall depth, D = 150 mm.
Assuming bar dia of 12 mm, actual d = 99 mm.

a) Reinforcement at corners of wall section

Hence, x= 24 mm
Area of steel for B.M
Ast1= (Mf-TB*x)/j*d*t
where t= 150 N/m^2
j= 0.87
Hence, Ast1 688 mm^2
Area of steel for direct tension
Ast2 = TB/ t 201.67 mm^2
Total area of steel

Ast2 = TB/ t 201.67 mm^2
Total area of steel
