The Little Prince Reacion Paper
The Little Prince Reacion Paper
Little prince is a wonderful novel which describes a child’s point of view. Yet,
behind its playful and colorful tone of writing, as you linger in every phrase the book,
lies a deeper perspective. In my recent observation, unlike when this was introduced
to me in high school, this literature is more than a novel. As you dig deeper in its
content, the story was also composed of various poetic elements such as allegory;
for example, the character of the snake which was described to offer the little prince
an easier way for him to leave planet earth, as the prince expressed his frustration
from the unusual experiences that he had. This makes the little prince homesick and
ended up with the snake offering him a way of “transportation”. Behind this
enigmatic riddle of the snake was an offer of death, biting the little prince with its
venom, and ending the little prince’s life; a dreadful way to leave planet earth. The
psychology, it emphasizes men’s negative rationalization from the struggles that they
experience in the world. Just like how it impacted the little prince negatively, as his
innocent belief were compromised in planet earth. In application into real life
psychology; this negative state could manifest in various ways; one that could reflect
to the story and now a trend especially with adolescents, is depression. It could offer
worst suicide just like what the snake was offering to the little prince.
Aside from allegory, it also displayed concepts of Existentialism. This was
exhibited as the little prince when the little prince left his planet and been curious and
confuse at the same time as he learns more about how people in each planet lives
differently than him. It gives him question like why the man in the fifth planet does the
same routine to light a lamp and why does the businessman in the fourth planet
believes that the owns the stars. He began to question his own beliefs then. Just like
when he met a bunch of roses in one yard, he has been disappointed that by
appearance, his rose was no different at all. But he was also amazed with the new
things he had learned, one of the most influential experiences that he had is how he
tamed a fox, this gives us the metaphor; “But if you tame me, it will be as if the
sun came to shine on my life. I shall know the sound of a step that will be
