❖The Classified Catalogue Code
(CCC) first published in 1934.
STUDY
AACR-II
❖Full Form of AACR-II :Anglo
American Cataloguing Rule.
❖AACR-II was prepared by ALA, The
British Library, the Canadian
Committee on Cataloguing, The
Library Association, and the Library of
Congress and it was edited by Michael
Gorman and Paul W. Winkler.
❖Anglo American Cataloguing Rule-
II (AACR-II) published in 1978.
 Establishment of CCC
❖The foundation for the code was
laid in the 1924-25 when he was
studying in the London School of
Librarianship, England .
In his own words “the classified
catalogue owes itself to the sence
of revolt induced in the mind while
learning catalogue in 1924-25
School of Librarianship of the
University of London”.
Establishment of AACR-II
❖AACR-II traced from Anglo
American Cataloguing Code of
1908. This code was revised and
published by ALA (American Library
Association) cataloguing Rules in
1949. In 1961, after the
International Conference on
Cataloguing Principles (ICCP), the
new code appeared and published
in 1967, which was named AACR-I
(Anglo American Cataloguing
Rules-I), which was revised with
some alterations and additional
rules and published in 1978 as
AACR- 2.
 Year wise Development of
CCC
▪1st edition was published in 1934.
▪2nd edition was published in 1945,
which established the symbiotic
relationship between classification
and cataloging and developed the
chain procedure for subject
cataloguing and indexing.

▪ AACR-II published in 1978.
▪In 1988, some changes and
additions were made in AACR-
2nd edition and AACR -2nd
Revised edition was published,
which has 2 parts.
