ABSTRACT – Several Circles (Oil on Canvas, 1926) by Wassily Kandinsky

One of the series of non-representational
paintings of Wassily Kandinsky. He relied on
the varied possibilities of interpretation for the
circle to create a sense of spiritual and
emotional harmony in this artwork. The
dynamic movement of the round forms evokes
their universality which also suggests the
circle is a shape integral to life.

OP ART - Blaze (1967) by Bridget Riley

Looking at the middle white circle, Blaze creates
a perception of moving lines in clockwise and
counterclockwise manner. The interlocking
lines add depth to the form as it rhythmically
curves around the center of the image. She
believed that perception is the medium through
which state of being is directly experienced.
