On-line submission of application(s) for admission to B.A (Honours) Courses 2021- 22

 Do not visit the university offices for admission details. All information related to ad-
mission procedures is available on this website.

 An applicant must have completed results at the 10+2 level at the time of application.

 Incomplete and/or incorrect application shall be liable to be cancelled.


 For any candidate, increase in marks due to post-publication review/scrutiny after the
closing dates of application (20/8/2021) for admissions to B.A (Honours) Courses for the
academic session 2021- 22, shall NOT be considered, and his/her merit position shall
NOT be changed.
 For a candidate selected provisionally for admission, if it is found at the time of document
verification that the marks he/she had stated at the time of application is more than what
he/she has actually obtained (as in his/her mark-sheets), then his/her provisional
admission will be cancelled.
 Following eligibility and selection procedures are applicable only for students who have
completed school (10+2) in India. Foreign students or others who have completed
schools (10+2) outside India must check Foreign Students Admission at
http://www.jaduniv.edu.in/foreign_student.php for application procedure, eligibility
and other criteria.
 Department of Economics had introduced 5-Year (10-Semester) Dual degree
Integrated programme with lateral exit and entry at the end of Sixth Semester
from session 2018-19. Students after passing the 10+2 level shall be admitted to
this programme only. The first three years (or six semesters) shall cover the
existing C.B.C.S syllabus, whereas in the next two years (four semesters) the new
syllabus prepared under R.U.S.A that is going to be introduced by the
Department shall be taught. Students opting for exit at the end of the sixth
semester shall get only the B.A (Hons.) in Economics degree, and those opting to
continue shall receive the Dual degree [B.A (Hons.) and MA in Economics] at the
end of successful completion of all 10 semester papers.
 Maximum tenure of studentship for the admitted candidates will be as per the UGC
circular no- F.12-1/2015(CPP-II).
 If any Board does not provide any marks (only grade) to the candidates in class 10 th
board examination, then the candidates of that particular Board have to convert their
grades into marks as per the rules of that concerned Board and should enter that marks
into the online application form.

** For English - Students who have completed the Cambridge International Examinations General Certificate of
Education or of approved British examining bodies as recognized by AIU, with at least two Advanced level
subjects, will be eligible to apply to the BA English Honours class provided that:

1. They have previously completed GCSE with at least 5 subjects


2. One subject in which Advanced (A) level certification has been obtained is English
3. That the average quantitative score obtained in the Advanced level is not less than that
prescribed for other applicants.
SC/ST CATEGORY

As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89-SCD(R.CELL)


dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/
Scheduled Tribes of the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in Ed -
ucational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students may get the benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile
certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.

OBC-A/OBC-B CATEGORY

The candidates who will be provisionally selected under the OBC- A and OBC- B categories must
produce an OBC certificate (the date of issue of the certificate should not be earlier than August
2020) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) they belong
to; (ii) that they do not belong to creamy layer of the society, at the time of document verification.
OBC-A and OBC-B candidates from the States other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the
benefit of reserved quota in Educational Institutions in West Bengal. Such students may get the
benefit of reserve quota if they have domicile certificate of 10 years residency in West Bengal.

*FOR SPORTS CATEGORY

In addition to the above mentioned academic eligibility, the following eligibility conditions under
Sports Quota shall apply:
Candidate should have represented a state or equivalent in any National Championship (Junior/ Senior/
Federation Cup) or above conducted under the aegis of respective Federation/ Association recognized
by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports / Indian Olympic Association

Candidate should have represented state in National School Competition conducted by School Games
Federation of India (SGFI)

Candidate having position 1 /2 /3 for individual event/sports or member of Champion / Runners up
team for team event/sports/games in Inter-Dist / State Championship (open) or above conducted under
the aegis of respective Federation/ Association recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports /
Indian Olympic Association in the sports and games offered by the A.I.U, with percentage of marks
specified above is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
For chess, applicant having the FIDE rating (standard) 1700 and above for Boys and FIDE rating
(standard) 1300 and above for girls is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota.
For Tennis, applicant having the AITA ranking up to 300 for under 18 years boys/girls or ranking up to
500 for open (Men/Women) category is eligible to apply for admission under the sports quota. The
rating/ranking for chess & tennis is applicable on the day / week of publication of advertisement for
admission under sports quota. The FIDE rating/ AITA ranking for chess & tennis respectively is
applicable either on the day / week of publication of advertisement or any update from 01.01.2020 for
admission under sports quota.
For Cricket & Football, applicant must have represented any 1st Division Club or above with
participation of 20% matches or represented any 2nd Division Club or above with participation of 40%
matches either in the current year or any one of the three preceding years organized by either CAB / IFA
or any State Association OR having the criteria as specified above for UG Level.
Such sports representations are to be made within current year or any one of the three preceding
calendar years (i,e commencing from 1st January, 2018) only.

Certificates of participation (Click here for format) in Sports/Games must be obtained from the competent
authorities. Applicant must send the certificates in prescribed format along with a print out of online
application and all Sports Certificate in pdf format at the mail id (artsadmission@jadavpuruniversity.in) or
by post to the Office of the Dean and the Secretary, Faculty Council of Arts, U.G. Arts Building, Ground
Floor, Jadavpur University, Kolkata 700032, on or before August 22, 2021.
Participants in Tournaments/Events organized or certified by bodies other than those mentioned
above are not eligible.

** FOR PD CATEGORY

Persons with 40% or more disability will only be considered for admission under PD
quota under RPD Act, 2016.

Anti- Ragging:
Jadavpur University has accepted in principle that each and every student of the University shall be
duty bound during the entire period of studentship with the University to immediately report to the
Dean of Students if any ragging is noticed either in University hostel or on University campus.

If any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the Authority, the concerned student shall be given
liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the Authority would expel him/her
from the University.

Selection Procedure

For Economics Marks obtained by the candidates in Mathematics shall be added to the aggregate
[5-year Integrated marks calculated following the guideline laid down in aggregate marks calculation
B.A(Hons.) & M.A for H.S./Equivalent Examination to arrive at the final score. Students shall be

For Comparative On the basis of 1) 20% weightage to the aggregate percentage obtained in
Literature H.S./Equivalent Examination + 2) 40% weightage of marks obtained in best two
language subjects taken together in H.S./Equivalent Examination + 3) 40%
weightage on the marks acquired in an online Group Discussion to evaluate their
aptitude.
Important Note: A list of candidates selected for the online Group Discussion
will be put up on the Jadavpur University website on 25 August 2021, along
with details of how to join the online Group Discussion. A candidate selected for
the online Group Discussion who may not be in a position to join online for
reasons like lack of internet connectivity, or other logistical issues, may contact

to request alternative arrangements for his/her scheduled Group Discussion.
The request for an alternative arrangement should be made at least one day

PD Category: (1) A provisional merit order of eligible candidates will be prepared on the basis of the
