SINCE 1982

In the early 1980’s, the rapid growth of Southeast
Asian business led Professor Toemsakdi and other
farsighted business leaders to realize that the region
needed a world-class business school... and needed
it quickly!
In a pioneering model for business schools around
the world, Chulalongkorn University partnered with
the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern
University and the Wharton School of the University
of Pennsylvania – two of the foremost business
schools in the United States – to create Sasin.
Initially known as GIBA, the school was named Sasin
by King Bhumibol Adulyadej on his 60th birthday.
Pioneering innovation is part of Sasin’s DNA as it was
the first business school to use visiting professors,
complemented by full-time faculty members.
In 2010, Sasin became the first school in Thailand to
earn AACSB accreditation. Later that same year,
the school received EQUIS accreditation from the
European Foundation for Management Development,
again the first in Thailand.
Sasin remains one of the few business schools in
Southeast Asia with both of these top two global
accreditations.
