Matthieu Kubis Test 1
Matthieu Kubis Test 1
1. One of the audience demographics I considered was age. I determined that the average
age fo the audience in class is young enough to successfully navigate Spotify and other
2. The irreversible axiom is where it can never be taken back once it has been
communicated.
3. A.) Physical noise – Distractions caused by something present. Ex. People talking or
stereotypes.
C.) Semantic noise – Distractions caused by jargon or lack of knowledge Ex. Technical
jargon only an expert would know. Cmaj7 is the Mixolydian dominant chord of the F
Ionian scale.
D.) Physiological noise – Any distraction that stems from your bodily functions. Ex.
E.) Messages – The content of what was said. Ex. The idea you are trying to convey
F.) Channel – The way the message was sent. Ex. Visual, written, oral.

on C.
J.) Field of Experience – the sender and receivers’ knowledge in a subject and the overlap
required to effectively communicate. Ex. An average person knows what music sounds
like, but they may not draw parallels to songs that use the same chord structures.
4. Age and gender are both very important demographics to consider. The age is important
as it determines what general experience an age group should have. If you were teaching
a younger class, you may not need to instruct on basic technology skills while those who
are older may need more time and explanation to receive the same message effectively.
The gender is important because some information may not apply to both male and
female and if there are no males in an audience, you may not need to explain things that
5. The concept of identification is a method in which you can relate to the audience on the
topic. Music! You have all heard of Bruno Mars, Frank Sinatra, Shakira. You hear the
music all around you, but do you ever stop and analyze what is really going on
underneath the pleasant sounds? Do you ever want to know how their music works?
6. Symbols are connections that are made between objects or visual cues and motions that
individuals can associate with the topic or idea. A symbol that is being ambiguously
perceived in our times is the hand signal “OK” being interpreted as the standard symbol
for “OK”, a gag game, and lastly a 4Chan joke gone wrong as a white supremacist
symbol.
7. A specific purpose statement is what will be talked about and covered in the body of the
speech while a central idea is the overarching theme the speech will take. For cars, a

specific purpose statement would be “We will be showing you how to change your oil.”
While a central idea would be “Simple car maintenance that everyone should know.”
B. Empty oil
9. Have you ever been driving down the road only to see that dreaded red oil pan pop up on
your dashboard? Well, you have nothing to fear as there is an easy fix to this problem…
