The foundation of the company.
The origin of the company dates back to 1906, when Ber-
nard Krone started his own blacksmith’s shop in Spelle;
his business quickly won recognition in the neighbouring
villages. The company started to grow, the two sons Ber-
nard and Heinrich Krone joined the business and became
more and more specialised in the development, production,
and sale of agricultural machinery, which turned out to be
a successful decision: for the company continued to grow
during the next 50 years.
The development of the commercial vehicle
programme.
In the 1960s, the management thought about a second
string on the company’s bow, which should be independ-
ent of agriculture. This was how the production of com-
mercial vehicles started in the KRONE plant in Werlte in
1971. The chassis produced demonstrated the quality of
Krone’s build; so the demand continued growing. from the
very beginning, the company exclusively used compon-
ents from well-known manufacturers and reliable corro-
sion-protection and prioritised the development of new
and efficient transport solutions.
The high-flyer in the trailer business.
In the specialist sector, the company was quickly regarded
as a high-flyer; between 1971 and 1980, production was
increased from 100 to 2,000 units per year. Thanks to a
sales and development policy geared to international busi-
ness from the very beginning, the quality of the products
quickly spread across Europe. Thus fahrzeugwerk Ber-
nard KRONE steadily continued to grow during the 1980s
and 1990s and optimised transport efficiency through a
lot of new developments, such as short coupling systems,
megatrailers, and many other innovations.
The reinvention of corrosion protection.
The completion of the new painting installation in 1997
was really ground-breaking. at its time it was the most
state-of-the-art installation in Europe and a breakthrough
in corrosion protection, which was at the same time so
ecologically advanced that the then premier of lower

personally to put the plant into operation.
With cataphoretic painting and subsequent ecological
powder coating, KRONE made it possible to combine
multicolour painting with extraordinary longevity, and gave
the painting quality a ten year warranty.
Quality for cool calculations.
In the field of refrigerated trailers, there was soon much
talk about the company. after KRONE had imported the
Cool liner from the USa in the beginning, the subsidiary
Bernard Krone a/S in Hvam in denmark started produc-
tion of these vehicles in 2000. This production turned out
to be so exemplary that the plant was elected ‘Best work-
place in denmark’ in 2003.
However KRONE staff did not rest on their laurels, but con-
tinued to look for even more optimum solutions. finally,
these solutions were found in a refrigerated trailer series
that is unrivalled: in 2007, KRONE was the first trailer man-
ufacturer to offer its customers the choice between two
refrigerated semitrailers, namely the Cool liner duoplex
GRp and the Cool liner duoplex Steel.

The new delivery centre Trailer Point in our Werlte plant
is even more sophisticated in terms of logistics than the
former Drivers Point. after thorough analysis of previous
delivery practice, we have now developed a service which
speeds up procedures, simplifies the delivery process,
and welcomes the collecting drivers as our guests, even
if 90 percent of our daily deliveries will take less than one
hour handling time.
Fluent in service languages.
Today, the Trailer Point team is made up of eight employ-
ees who can handle the proper transfer of documents in
up to 25 languages. For the daily delivery of 200 trailers,
sufficient parking spaces and new parking lots for the
waiting tractors are available now. The drivers are wel-

comed by our staff, accompanied to their semitrailers and
instructed about the trailer‘s technique. In addition, there
are recreation facilities and showers for the drivers.
New trailers around the clock.
Due to the new KRONE internet portal, the order status
can now easily be viewed online; registration for collection
is also possible. Upon request, even night collections are
registered, as the new office with its multi-lingual termi-
nals and all its service offers will not only be opened from
6.00 a.m. till 9.00 p.m. Outside these opening hours, one
employee will be available upon request to ensure that
your new trailer can start operation as quickly as possible
and without any problems.

An eye for the environment from the beginning.
Sense of responsibility is the mother of invention. KRONE
proved this more than ten years ago, when the most
state-of-the-art painting installation throughout Europe
was taken into operation. Painting with the non-polluting
powder coating was so ecologically mature that the then
Premier of lower Saxony personally put the plant into
operation. The company remained true to this high requi-
rement during the following years and introduced an eco-
management system certified acc. to ISO 14001:2005 for
the fields of development, production, and sales. In addi-
tion, KRONE actively participates in the climate protection
programme GoGreen for the neutralisation of CO2 gases
through environmental projects. We consistently pay at-
tention to the reduction of emissions such as CO2, but
also of noise emissions and odours as well as to the mini-
misation of waste as used oils, dissolvents, steel scraps,
and sewages. In addition, our buildings are optimised as
regards energy consumption. Thus we keep energy and
water consumption as low as possible and in addition
utilise energy and heat recovery installations. These envir-
onmental values are tracked in detail and determined per
unit produced to generate reference values and to detect
weak points.
Products that save the future.
apart from proximity to the customers and responsive-
ness to customers’ requirements, ecological aspects,
too, are in the focus of our trailer concepts. Thus we have
developed and are still developing two future projects for
reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption which set
standards: the Eco liner and the Euro Combi.
Furthermore, we pay attention to sustainability for all
KRONE products. On the one hand this affects transport
efficiency: the more you can load, the smaller the number
of trailers that have to run to transport cargo from a to B.
This mainly concerns the chassis and the superstructure.
There are great savings potentials here regarding air re-
sistance and rolling resistance, but also means to avoid
noise emissions, as e.g. tyre noise and noise developing
from loading/unloading. Our coffers are therefore equip-
ped with sophisticated isolation for lower energy con-
sumption, particularly when using cooling systems. and
we even took into account secondary consumers such as
suspension systems and lighting installations to render our
trailers more energy-efficient down to the smallest detail.
We are giving top priority to the world of the future.
For the next few years, KRONE envisages to reach chal-
lenging environmental targets. Therefore, it is not only the
environmental protection staff that deals with detailed do-
cumentation and relevant data. The company managers
themselves personally take great care of KRONE‘s envir-
onmental concerns. So paying attention to small details
results in large benefits: for more economy, for a better
environment, for a better future.
