1) Type the following data in Sheet 1 and save the file as Excel Exam in the folder created in
question 1. (8 Marks)

2) Add two columns called TOTAL and AVERAGE to compute the total and average marks

3) The grading system is as follows:
a) 80 and Above – Distinction
b) 65 to 79 – Credit
c) 50 to 64 – Pass
d) Below 50 – Fail

Determine the mean grade for each student using their averages above. (8 Marks)

4) The students should be promoted to the next class if their average score is 60 and above.
Create a column called PROMOTED after the Mean Grade and use the appropriate function
to display “YES” if the condition is true and “NO” if the condition is false. (4 Marks)

5) Rename Sheet 1 to Students Performance. (2 Marks)
6) In Sheet 2, type the following data and rename the worksheet to Payroll. (8 Marks)

a) House Allowance = 25% of Basic Salary
b) Transport Allowance is less House Allowance by 15.8%
c) Medical Allowance exceeds transport allowance by 23%
d) Bonus is calculated as follows:
i) Male and Married = 20% of Basic Salary
ii) Female and Married = 15.5% of Basic Salary
iii) Others = 12% of Basic Salary
e) Gross Pay=Basic Salary + House Allowance + Transport Allowance + Medical
Allowance + Bonus
f) PAYEE = 6.5% of Gross Pay
g) NSSF = 4.5% of Gross Pay
h) NHIF exceeds NSSF by 5500
i) Net Pay=Gross Pay – PAYEE – NSSF - NHIF
Calculate the above.

8) Create a Column Chart in a new sheet that has Employee Name, Basic Salary, Gross Pay and
Net Pay for all employees. Add relevant chart title, axis titles and rename the chart as Payroll
Col Chart. (8 Marks)
