- Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Falling Waters is located in

Mill Run, Pennsylvania.

Space : The reality of the building does not consist of the roof
and the walls but the space within to be lived in.

Shelter : A building should convey a sense of shelter, refuge,

or protection against the elements. Its inhabitants should never
lack privacy or feel exposed and unprotected.

Proportions and Scale :The human body should be the mea-

sure of a building and its furnishings.

Nature : Nature is and architectʼs school. The creative possibil-

ities of form, colour, pattern, texture, proportion, rhythm, and
growth are all demonstrated in nature.

-The  Kunsthaus Graz,  Grazer Kunsthaus, or  Graz Art

Museum was built as part of the European Capital of Culture
celebrations in 2003.

-Kunsthaus Graz was designed by Colin Fournier as the Part-

ner-in-Charge together with Sir Peter Cook.

-For technical reasons and because of the pressure of time

and a tight budget, the working up of the design and the
details of the new construction have been done too hastily. In
the scheme for the competition in 2000, the organic eleva-
tion was presented as a translucent membrane. This would
give passers-by an idea of what takes place inside a ʻfloating
and translucentʼ building. The closed blue glazed elevation
which has ultimately been realised offers few opportunities
for such a poetic quality.

It serves a purpose.
Proposing redesigning of the museum and addition of spaces. Post construction,
the size of the museum doubled, providing a new entry to the museum and muse-
umʼs three pavilions.
The Grand Louvre revolutionized the visitor experience, making it easier to move
from one museum wing to another and providing new facilities such as a cafete-
ria, a book and gift store and an auditorium

An early judgment

The early negative reaction stressed three points :

that the pyramid was an anomalous and unsuitable artistic from ancient Egypt

I. M. Pei was of an American-Chinese birth and therefore, by implication, not suffi-

ciently French to be entrusted with the task.
