The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

T his game is also known as the legend of Zelda: tri force of the gods. It is the third part of
the series of the legend of Zelda. Release in 1991 in Japan and 1992 in North America and
Europe, this game introduced new topics at that time like alternate or a parallel world, master
sword, and other new weapons or items. Japanese made action adventure video game
published by Super Nintendo Entertainment System video game console.

The plot of “A Link to the past” follows as Link travels on a journey to save Hyrule, and to
defeat Ganon. A link to the past describes the extraordinary concepts like parallel word,
master super sword and other new items and weapons.

After a commercial and critical success, it was actually a landmark title for Nintendo and also
this game is still considered as one of the bestselling video game of all times. Over four
million copies had been sold out worldwide. A Link to the past was also introduced with
Game Boy Advance with slight changes.

The concepts and mechanics are still taken from the original version of the game, also
introducing new innovations and concepts. For example, arrows are separate items, as of
bombs in the original version. Some of the concepts are also taken from the Adventure of
Link like the magic meter, (used by lamps). Link is now more perfectly controlled by the user,
can walk diagonally also using the Pegasus Boots or shoes in the GBA version. Sword
attacks are more perfected and now he can swing sideways also stabbing forward. So now
he could fight with more ease. The default is swing attacks.

Recurring innovations are first used in A Link to the Past, like Hookshot, the Master Sword,
the spin attack technique, the flute and Pegasus boots. Four pieces of heart make the
complete health container which gives player’s maximum health. Most of them are hidden.
Link plays on multi level dungeons, which are between floors or sometimes they have to
travel through holes to lower levels.

The existence of the two parallel worlds, a major Zelda trademark, one of the two parallel
worlds is the Light World, the second is the Dark World. In the first world, Link grew up with
his father and in the second world Ganon acquired the Triforce. The first one was ordinary
Hyrule and the second one was once sacred Realm. The Dark World is corrupted copy of
Hyrule. The water is black, grass is not alive, skulls everywhere, faces on trees, the people
are converted to their natural form, for example Link became pink rabbit in Dark World.
Four million copies have been sold worldwide, making it one of the best games of all times.
This part of the series makes the legend of Zelda second game or parts to be in the top 10 list
of best and most sold games of all time.
