“LEARNING FOR HUMAN GREATNESS”

What I’ve learnt about research is that it’s a method, a scientific method
developed by psychologists and scientists that incorporates a variety of methodologies
and is rigorously peer reviewed and evaluated. I have realized that research helps you
to explore your interests, to learn something new, to refine your problem-solving skills
and to challenge yourself in new ways. Working on a faculty-initiated research project
provides you the opportunity work closely with a mentor–a faculty member or other
experienced researcher.
When an event comes to a close, it’s a terrific moment to reflect on what you’ve
learned. You will develop new skills, discover more about the type of setting you love
being in, further explore your abilities and interests, and test your willingness to further
study or seek a career in an area or topic with each research experience. A research
experience may tell you what you don’t want to move in some circumstances.
Additionally, there is something known as the Scientific Approach, in which
scientists have a concept or hypothesis and, depending on their observations, either
support or refute the theory. Before it is published in a scientific journal, data is reviewed
by scientists who have the knowledge and expertise to evaluate it.
I have also learned about the difference between qualitative and quantitative
research. Qualitative research is a research that is more on subjective. It focuses on
opinions, feelings, and perspectives of the researcher and respondents. On the other
hand, quantitative research is more on objective. It focuses on numerical and statistical
data rather than in sentences. In terms of similarities, the only thing that is similar
between the two types of research is that both of their raw data is ultimately qualitative.
I have also learned how to properly write a good research design and research
title. There are numerous factors to be considered when writing research design and
research title such as the essence of the paper, comprehensible, curiosity, accurate,
specific, etc.
Furthermore, other parts of the research paper such as the research background,
research problem, and research questions were also discussed. I have learned how to
generate problem and questions for a research, as well as to create an accurate and
enough research background for a certain study. Aside from that, I have learned about
the scope and delimitation of the study. I already know how to determine the scope of
the study, as well as its limitation depending on the research topic.
I believe that everything I’ve learnt in class will be highly useful in my chosen job
path, and that the ideas and theories presented in class were meant to inspire me to
think about things in new ways. The selected texts were, for the most part, quite
enlightening and piqued my interest in learning more. I am grateful that I have the
opportunity to learn about the concepts related with research. I know that the things that
I have learned will be used when I proceed to college.
