FIBONACCI
• Fibonacci retracement percentages correspond to natural ratios discovered by the
Greeks. They referred to the phenomenon as the Golden Ratio. The theory was
then rediscovered by Fibonacci; a medieval, Italian Mathematician .
• He was one of the first people to introduce the Hindu-Arabic number system into
Europe - the positional system we use today - based on ten digits with its decimal
point and a symbol for zero:

• His book on how to do arithmetic in the decimal system, called Liber abbaci
(meaning Book of the Abacus or Book of Calculating) completed in 1202 persuaded
many European mathematicians of his day to use this "new" system.

The Fibonacci number sequence (1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55,89,144,...) is constructed by adding the

first two numbers to arrive at the third. The ratio of any number to the next number is 61.8
percent, which is a popular Fibonacci retracement number. The inverse of 61.8 percent is 38.2
percent, also used as a Fibonacci retracement number. It is the ratio of the Fibonacci sequence
that is important and valuable, not the actual numbers in the sequence.

• If we take the ratio of two successive numbers in Fibonacci series, (1, 1, 2,
3, 5, 8, 13, ..) and we divide each by the number before it, we will find the
following series of numbers:

measuring tool. Each level of the ruler highlights the areas in which
the market may experience support or resistance.
