Purchaser-approved brand. Sec. 5.2.1

The cement type shall be based on the Exposure Type in Table 1 of SAES Q-001.
Note: Table 1 is based on performance of geotechnical investigation as required by
SAES-A-113 or availability of prior reports showing soil chemical composition. If SAES Q-001,
B2
geotechnical investigation/soil chemical analysis report is exempted by SAES-A- Table Sec. 5.1
113, exposure type II (epoxy coated reinforcement and type V cement) shall be
used.

Ordinary Portland Cement (Type I) shall be in accordance with SSA 143 and the 09-SAMSS-097
B3
optional chemical requirements of ASTM C150, Table 2. Sec. 5.2.1 & III.B
Type V sulfate resistant Portland cement shall be in accordance with ASTM C150,
09-SAMSS-097
B4 including the optional chemical requirements of Table 2 and the optional physical
Sec. 5.2.1 & III.B
requirements of Table 4.

Silica fume shall be in accordance with ASTM C1240. Silica fume, when used as a
09-SAMSS-097
B5 mineral additive shall not be less than 7% by weight of cement as replacement and
Sec. 5.2.2
shall not exceed 10% by weight of cement.

Natural Pozzolans can be used as partial replacement of cement. The amount of the
Natural Pozzolan (ASTM C618) used as cement replacement shall be established 09-SAMSS-097
B6
based on the compressive strength requirements but shall not exceed 50% Sec. 5.2.2
replacement for the cement.

Mill test certificates shall be provided for each shipment of cement. Under no
09-SAMSS-097
B7 circumstances shall the source of cement be changed without prior written approval
Sec. 5.2.2
