Step 4: Solve question 3 of this worksheet.

Relation of Multiplication and Division:

With multiplication and division, if you multiply to get a product, you can use division to reverse the operation
by dividing the product, and vice versa. The product is the answer when two or more numbers are multiplied
together.
For example:
7 × 8 = 56 so, 56 ÷ 8 = 7 and 9 × 5 = 45 so, 45 ÷ 5 = 9
Q 1. Complete the process by providing the missing steps:

24 ÷ 6 = ? 6 × 4 = 24 so, 24 ÷ 6 = 4

24 ÷ 4 = ? 4 × 6 = 24 so, 24 ÷ 4 = ?

24 ÷ 3 = ? __ × __ = 24 so, 24 ÷ 3 = ___

24 ÷ 8 = ? 8 × __ = 24 so, 24 ÷ 8 = __

24 ÷ 2 = ? __ × __ = 24 so, 24 ÷ 2 = __

15 ÷ 3 = ? 3 × __ = 15 so, 15 ÷ 3 = __

15 ÷ 5 = ? 5 × 3 = 15 so, 15 ÷ __ = 3

18 ÷ 9 = ? __ × __ = 18 so, 18 ÷ 9 = __
Q 2. Find the quotient and divisor of the following. Show necessary steps of working:
a. 72 ÷ 9

b. 135 ÷ 5

c. 135 ÷ 9

d. 84 ÷ 7

e. 84 ÷ 6
A remainder is any extra left over after you divide evenly. You will not always have a remainder when you divide. In
some cases, the division problem will end up with nothing left over, so in that case, there would be no remainder. For
example, 4 divided by 2 equals 2, and there's nothing left over.

Q 3. Complete the following table: (An example is done to help you understand the steps)

32 ÷ 4 = 8 R 0 40 ÷ 4 = ____ 63 ÷ 9 = 7 R 0 64 ÷ 2 = ____ 65 ÷ 2 = ____

32 ÷ 5 = 6 R 2 40 ÷ 5 = ____ 63 ÷ 8 = ____ 64 ÷ 3 = ____ 65 ÷ 3 = ____

32 ÷ 6 = 5 R 2 40 ÷ 6 = ____ 63 ÷ 7 = ____ 64 ÷ 4 = ____ 65 ÷ 4 = ____

32 ÷ 7 = 4 R 4 40 ÷ 7 = ____ 63 ÷ 6 = ____ 64 ÷ 5 = ____ 65 ÷ 5 = ____

32 ÷ 8 = 4 R 0 40 ÷ 8 = ____ 63 ÷ 5 = ____ 64 ÷ 6 = ____ 65 ÷ 6 = ____

32 ÷ 9 = 3 R 5 40 ÷ 9 = ____ 63 ÷ 4 = ____ 64 ÷ 7 = ____ 65 ÷ 7 = ____
