My assignment and contribution to the organization

As an intern from the beginning of my work, I was instructed and trained by my supervisor. I had
limited project works and assignment, I was assign in an upcoming project, where I have done
several surveys and data entry and make an overall finding. The project was very interesting, it
was related with upcoming market condition and a chance of joint venture to a foreign battery
company. Project was mainly to find out our total market share and overall condition of the
condition. Besides this project I was assigned to entry various types of dealership data from
dealership form and maintain a proper database. My Supervisor (Marketing Senior Assistant
Manager Mr. Zayed) helped me a lot through out my internship. I was given freedom to think and
brainstorm in the work field like – Creating new design for calendar, notebook and quotes for
calendar. Mr. Zayed taught me how to deal with different vendors and attend meetings.
I also did some distribution of T-shirts, key rings and different type of gifts etc. All I had to
maintain an excel sheet and record all the data related to gifts and to whom it is handed over.
Besides all this I went to different area for survey related work and collected and maintaining
dealership database.

Lessons I learned from my internship experience

As the requirement of my undergraduate program, I need to work under any organization at least
for 10 or 12 weeks to achieve some practical knowledge. My major is marketing. So I always want
to do my internship at any large corporate company. I started my internship at Navana Batteries
Limited. By joining here, I have the opportunity to know practically about the Marketing work of
a large company.

Professionalism is the first thing I have learnt during my internship. Environment of my office is
very professional and its very important to any work station. I learnt from my senior that no matter
how much work pressure you have, enjoying the work is more important. Whenever it comes to
job and professionalism, they did it with their top and also enjoy their task. To me healthy work
surroundings is very important, otherwise no one can enjoy their task. From the beginning I was
suffering from time management but later I tried to maintain my time so I do not have to face any
kind of time constraints problem.

Through the internship period I gradually gained more and more self-confidence, it is very
important for every job holder. I came to know about the corporate culture, and how to deal with
corporate life. My internship gives me a board idea about the behavior and how to work with
colleagues in a corporate field. I used to seek help from my seniors which help me to create a good
bonding with them at the later stage.
I learnt a lot of things practically which I learnt in my courses, for example – Using SPSS (MKT
470) for market research, developing a blueprint and service audit (MKT 412), Dealing with
consumer (MKT 344). The lesson I learnt from doing internship at Navana Batteries Limited
definitely going to help me in work place.

Navana Batteries Limited

Interaction with supervisor and coworkers

As I am an intern in Marketing Division at Navana Batteries Limited, my supervisor is obviously

from my division. He is Mr. Zayed who is a Manager of Marketing Department. He is really a nice
and humble person. Whenever I seek any help he used to help me. Navana Batteries Span of control
is more like wide not vertical, so we have a direct communication with our GM. Our GM handed
over some project work to me and I did the whole project under the supervision of my supervisor
Mr. Zayed. I am the only intern in my department but I never felt that I works here as an intern not
a full time employee. Each and every one treated me so well and helped with every time. We had
our lunch together. I was welcome to attend every meeting held during my period. In the meeting
we used to share any kind of difficulties and problems we faced during work. The meeting builds
a good bonding with each other. The working environment is really professional and friendly as
well. Whenever I faced any difficulties in my work, not only my supervisor but also my other
employee and co-worker helped me. In a sentence, I can say that each and every one of Navana
Batteries Limited are very helpful and friendly.

Dealing difficulties encountered

During my internship journey. I encountered some difficulties which I had to manage and
overcome as soon as possible.
 Firstly, difficulty I faced was to do my first task as I was new and scared. Took a lot of
time to understand my work.
 Request for PC was never accepted so I need to do all my work with my personal laptop.
 Internet access was given after almost a month later.
 Everyone is busy in their work so they can’t give me more time. So, it was very difficult
for me to get them free and obtain some practical ideas regarding their expectation and
opportunities regarding my topic.
 Also we faced time limitations because 3 months was not enough to cope up any
difficulties.
 Repetition of regular work made me bored.

5
Navana Batteries Limited

Moreover, whenever I need any help my supervisor also helped me to overcome from any
difficulties. Another difficulty I used to face was creating database according to zone, their file
was too much scattered and not well organized. Besides these all difficulties, my silly and regular
mistakes are there also but my supervisor always helped me and corrected my mistakes.

Difference between my expectations and what I experienced

Difference between my expectation and experience is very specific. My perception before joining
Navana Batteries Ltd. was that they will assign me tons of works and I will never be able to make
a good relationship with my co-workers due to their professionalism. I heard from many of my
friends they quit the internship due to work pressure. So I was tensed about this issue. However,
my perception was totally wrong in this phase.
There was no trust issue that I can do the work, because our GM believed that a student of North
South University can take a lot of work pressure and he have no doubt about the quality of work.
But again I was newly joined so I need to attain trust gradually. Through the passing days I gained
their trust fully and they started to assign important task to me, they treated me as a full time
employee not as an intern. It taught me that nothing can be achieved without hard work and that is
the reality of life.

Influence of the internship in my career plans

After conducting internship under Navana Batteries Ltd I feel more interested in working in
different corporate field. I have a plan to join in Multinational Company or large company like
Navana Group. So I hope experience of my internship will definitely boost me to start a fresh
graduate’s career.
There are some arguments behind it, some explanation might be
 Proper idea about job security
 Handsome amount of Salary and basic allowance
 Scope of promotion
 Opportunity to prove yourself
 Social Recognition

6
Navana Batteries Limited

During my internship period, the department that has motivated me to become a part of large
company and engage myself in Marketing Department. I have done most of the work of this
department with interest and pleasure. Daily task was admirable and inspirational to me and there
is scope to prove myself in this department.

If I redo this internship, what would I do differently?

If I had the opportunity to redo my internship, there are many task I would do in different way,
although it has been honor to be a part as intern of such large organization like Navana Group.
Working in a large organization provides me very good scope to learn and achieve better
experience and it also boost my trust in my eligibility. Redoing my Internship, I would ask for a
ton of assignments and task that would enhance my expertise and also ask for some diversified
work so that I would not get bored.
Secondly, I will try to keep my confidence level up from the very first day of my joining, so that I
can bring a behavior change and act a bit more professional.

Conclusion
In Bangladesh, there is a huge change in this sector day by day. Around 12 or 15 years ago there
was only two major organizations who engage in producing or manufacturing batteries in local
market but today there exists a number of competitors regarding this field. The reason behind this,
Bangladesh is a over populated country and due to development of its transport infrastructure over
the country and increase of national income the use of private car is gradually increasing and due
to lack of supplying electricity, the use of generator and IPS has increased.
During the Ninety days of Internship program at Navana Battery Limited has arranged for gaining
knowledge of battery industry, giving knowledge about their sales and client management
procedure. I believe such internship training going to help build up my career. The affection and
love of its employee I have received, I think I would never have received from any other place. It
would be pleasure for if I again get the opportunity to wind up to come back to the organization
and be a part of the family
