Background:
The unit 3 turbine has experienced with corrosion scale deposition in its diaphragm.
One of factors that may contribute to the corrosion scale is the usage of aerated
condensate steam wash water. An engineering study was conducted to determine the
root cause of problem. Based on the study it is concluded that water source from unit
1/2/3 blow down pipe is not clean water.
The non oxygenated water from unit 4/5/6 main condenser will be used as steam wash
water caused of best quality source, high in reliability due to less rotating equipment
to be utilized, operated and maintained.
Project Objective
To improve the steam wash flow rate control ability and stability by develop facility to
provide good quality water oxygen free content for west field.
Project Description
This project is performed to design and construct the non oxygenated steam wash
water supply by installing piping system from unit 4/5/6. The water condensate will
be tapped on the down stream of the new condensate pumps. The condensate will be
flowed by new booster pump to west field via pipeline system. The detail technical
study for this project can be seen in appendix A.
Scope of Work
Project Economics
This project is not subjected to return of investment, but will increase the reliability
of steam wash water and reduce the risk of steam turbine shutdown due to corrosion
scale development inside steam line piping before entering steam turbine. Based on
experienced, unit 3 have corrosion scale development in its diaphragm.
Total initial cost to purchase and install all of materials for the non-oxygenated steam
wash water supply is US$. 210,000.00.
The cost estimate is attached. The cost estimation was based on preliminary
engineering. The cost may change as a result of market price. All CRF, Work request,
Material requisition developed to support this project shall be reviewed and sign by
the project coordinator.
Project Schedule
The project duration for this phase is approximately 40 days for administration work
and 4 (four) months for purchasing and construction work. For detail schedule of this
project, please see the schedule in the attachment.
Safety Issue
General safety rules must be applied. All workers must wear the necessary safety
gears as follow: hard hats, safety boots, hand gloves and goggles as appropriate.
Lockout/tag out procedure must be followed as necessary.
The system shall be designed and built according to the specification and standards set
by CGS. Special attention shall be given to the following:
1. Welder Qualification / Welding procedure
Ensure the validation of the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), Procedure
Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder’s Performance Qualification (WPQ)
Utilize Certified Welder, verify MIGAS welding certification.
2. Material Availability
Schedule work based on material availability
Inspect material as it arrives on site
Mill certificate for all valves, pipes and fitting shall be provided
Booster pump documents shall be provided
3. Safety Inspection
Conduct safety inspection of construction sites weekly
Review contractor’s record of safety inspection and meetings conducted in the
field.
Ensure that the contractor is in compliance with the company safety policy and
contractor requirements.
